Where in Minnesota are you? My wife is from Rosemount (St. Paul area) and I studied in Fargo for a few years. We're in Billings, MT now...love it out here! But then again, I'd much rather be around Rosemount or something and get myself some Twins Season Tix!

A buddy of mine lived in Rosemount for a while. The apartment is in Rockford (40 minutes West of the cities on 55) but I currently live in Buffalo.

Good morning guys. Slept like crap last night. I was waking up every hour or so. I did not want to wake up at all this morning. Thankfully I only have a 3 day week again

Good Morning Gents! Got a small list of chores to accomplish for the day. Should be able to finish up quick, and if I'm lucky might head to the LCS as well.

Scott - Wow man, that sounds LAME about the ex-landlord. Very best of luck with it ending as well as it can and good job keeping a cool head in those return emails.

Thanks. There are plenty of things I would LIKE to say, especially after the intelligence comments and her lack of any sort of grammar in her emails, but it's just not worth it.

Happy lunch time all!

Your situation is another reason owning your home (if it's possible) is da' bomb.

Exactly. The first issues I had with her were the final straw for me to seriously look into buying a house. Best decision I ever made.

Here's an interesting fact for you guys-

"The first Chinese born player to play in a Major League Baseball game played 4 games for the Yankees in 1914"

Dang dude, that's brutal. We had a very similar thing happen with the landlord at my fiance's (at the time) apartment before we moved in together and didn't receive our full deposit because she was such a hag. First off, we had to move her out of that place (originally I was going to move in) because we were living in Minot, North Dakota at the time and with the huge oil boom up here living expenses get SPENDY. Anyway, she had been paying $650/mo. for a very large apartment and at the end of her lease we decided to do month-to-month for a little while. Since we weren't under contract they hiked the rent up to $2,100/MONTH!!! No one in their right mind would pay that...but apparently oil field workers (obviously not in their right mind...sorry if that offends someone...but I NOW work in the oilfield also, ironically) can afford that comfortably. We had a huge battle with the woman who owned the property because there was a management company taking care of the property for her but while we were going month-to-month she decided to take back ownership/mgmt responsibilities. Long story short, she was mad that we couldn't afford to pay the $2,100 she wanted for the place...even though she told us 2 weeks before the next month started...and we got out of there. I wrote her a lot of letters...delivered to her door...she didn't do e-mail or phone...and would receive a letter back in the mail every so often. I ended up getting about half of our deposit back but it just wasn't worth it to take her to small claims or something. Looking back on it, I wish I would have. I hope you have good luck with yours...she sounds awful! Do you live in Minot, ND by chance? haha

I do lol and I'm guessing IRET was the company

A couple weeks ago I decided I was going to start a Bobby Thomson/Ralph Branca collection since I realized they sign so many things together. I don't have anything with both of them yet but here's a couple things I got last week.

I dislike how people try to cash in on someone's death. Been looking at a Musial sweet spot auto for a while now and was just about to pull the trigger when he passed. They went from being on average 65-80 to now 100-125. They'll settle again but something about making a profit over it rubs me the wrong way. Buyers are just as guilty..

I would tend to agree with you here but honestly I think prices inflat after someones death just in general... not sure it's price gouging by the sellers as much as it is a flood of buyers, which simple economics shows supply/demand, etc. but whatever... As an example, I've never been interested in having an auto of Musial's but after he passed away I started looking for auctions and things I could get...

Good afternoon, everybody.

Great time w/the family yesterday for dinner...best scallops I've ever tasted and the mac and cheese was outta this world. DID wind up getting the Bowman Draft box, and the auto was a Zunino refractor!

Hope everyone's weather is slightly better than the ugly "wintry mix" we're experiencing here in Ann Arbor.

My fiance and I woke up to another email from our psychotic (almost) ex landlord. Never in my life have I dealt with someone so unprofessional in a professional setting. I've dealt with better business etiquette ordering from Dominos.

Long story short, we've been out of the apartment since the end of December when we moved into our new house, but our lease isn't up until Feb. 27th so I've been paying out the remainder. Anyways, we went in last weekend to get it all cleaned up and move in ready for the next prospective tenants (whenever they find someone). We left a couple things behind since we told her we wouldn't be out until the 31st and wouldn't be able to do our walkthrough until then. Fast forward to this morning when we receive this email

"I walked thru 201 sunday. it's a long way from being clean.

i took several pictures. nail holes, broken blinds, food on the ceiling
in the kitchen above where the table was, dirty oven, dirty frig, dirty
cabinets, dirty tub, dirty carpet... ask yourself, would you move into
an apartment that looked like that???

hell no."

Our response

"Well, first of all, Laurie. Why did you go in there without our consent? Not even that, but informing us first? We never once said it was ready for a walk through or asked you to do it. Our lease is not up and I told Rachel we would be out the 31st, expecting you to do the walk through AFTER that. Did we say we were ready for it? No, we did not. Also, do you expect us to spackle and repaint the nail holes? That is not on our move out list in the lease. The oven, was like that when we moved in, just so you know. We have a little more cleaning to do since we NEVER said we were ready for it. Also, I would like to do the second walk through with you and with my consent of it being ready."

And her response...

"Kelly, you forget I own the place. Since you are not actively living there, I do NOT have to give you notice. You should call a lawyer.

If you don't have the place in move in condition, that's when I start deducting from your deposit. End of story.

It's pretty hard to show the place and get it rented - which would save you Feb rent - in the current condition.

Your not to smart, are you???"

And our final response to her

"Laurie, first of all there is no reason for rude, attacking comments. My I.Q. has nothing to do with the matter at hand. If I really wanted to, I could consider that harrasment. Also, we never expected it to be rented for February, as stated in precious emails between the two of us, we are completely aware that we will be paying rent for that month. Also, let me ask you again if we told you we were ready for the walk through? I understand we are not staying there and that you own the building. I am perfectly clear on that. But, I never stated to anyone that we were finished with cleaning and that it was ready for walk through, we still have stuff there. Now, in your reply to this email I would appreciate it if you did not make rude comments directed towards me. This entire relationship we have is based off of the apartment. I have never made a personal comment about you, so please refrain from attacking me. Thank you."

What the actual XXXX...

Sorry for the long read and the rant guys, I've just been dealing with this lady for nearly a year now and I'm more than fed up.

I'd say screw February's rent and pet her keep the deposit. Just me and I'm an a-hole like that.

Just did a ton of school stuff. 2 classes, then a quiz for class 1. Now I have lunch before having to take on the last one of the day.

I have a bad headache though. I might have to go find some aspirin or something. Having a sick dog that I'm responsible for doesn't make it easier. Could be worse though.

Honestly, if that were an option, I probably would, but it is written in the lease that using the deposit as last month's rent is not an option.

I just love walking to class only to hear the professor talk for 5-10 minutes about stuff that could have been sent in a short email. It wouldn't be so bad if it was my only class, or I didn't have a class scheduled right afterwards. Oh well, who cares. I got done early with class
