Both grading companies offer similar products. The question is why do you want to grade a particular item? Some items sell better in PSA and some better in BGS. BGS has a current track record of being and easier grade, especially on new cards. If you are grading to keep the card it is a coin flip. If you want to sell, go to eBay and see which sells higher, ie PSA9 or BGS 9, PSA10 or BGS9.5.

Vintage goes to PSA or SGC. 89 Griffey see comment above, if it were me it would go to PSA.

So do you recommend I send my 62' Topps Mickey Mantle to PSA and my Griffey to BGS?

"I'll punt to guys who have more experience than me"

I have you my 50,000 foot view of grading. I've only graded a few gems in my PC an both were BGS. Might of come back better than 9s if I went PSA.

Here they are :)

Mac, you have a tainted view if you think PSA is easier. All you have to do is see the Stasburg super to know BGS is a money grab.

Haha I almost didn't comment because I have nearly ZERO cred versus you and other guys. Just gave my two cents.

I thought BGS was a tougher grade and PSA was easier but I'll take a backseat to your thoughts and others.

You're right when you say do a side by side view on eBay to see what gets a premium sale value if same grade.

Grading really matters to PSA set collectors. The registry is everything. PSA has a loyal following due to this. Prospector love BGS. Both have their place.

Wait, what is the registry? I thought both had a public database of cards and what is graded and how many, etc.

Anyways, you're the go-too for this. I'm a bystander ;)
