Good morning guys. I hope everyone has a great day.

RE: Beckett Appraisal

I'm not talking about the thread, just the service. I think it is an incredibly stupid service. Why is it not tied specifically to the card in question? Also, why not do a legit collection appraisal? At $15 a card, no one could afford to have their entire collection appraised.

Their "appraisal" service is basically a "BV" for a card that has no BV.
That's why they say it is for rare cards - 1/1s, nicer patches, etc.

You don't even need to send the card to them (or own it for that matter). THe process just requires you to pick the card from the same checklist they provide in the collectibles search on their site. You have the option of attaching a pic... but, yeah - The appraisal is for the card "submitted", but there is nothing that ties the appraisal to any one specific card.

Yeah, I was reading on that over there. For stuff they don't offer a bv on, they'll now give it a bv for $15 a shot.

That's what I was wondering as well. In some circles, people still look to Beckett. Having an appraisal may help someone if they were to potentially sell (I said may). Not linking it specifically is pretty stupid though. I would think their sheet should be more like an LOA. Make the person provide front and back scans/pics and include them on the certificate that they provide. It couldn't really add that much more time to the process. Copy the pics and add them to it. Done. Now everyone knows exactly what card is being referenced.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the thread going on. It just brought up some Beckett Appraisal questions for me.

Is that clown with the Arod card for real? Or is he trolling?

Question for the authors in here:

Is one of these the preferred order of words for the sentence?
1. Rumor has it that nobody is better with the foot wedge than George.
2. Rumor has it that nobody is better than George with the foot wedge.

The first one flows better. I am no expert, but I think commas would be needed before than and after George in the second one.

My 27 years of English tutoring entitle me to speak on this one. Either is acceptable, but I prefer the first one. No commas, Joe.

Finally get to use my skills!

After pulling a damaged Sergio Garcia #d to /3, receiving 3 piss-poor replacements, and sending them back to UD, the postman just arrived in NJ with my new replacement. Waiting for my dad to log onto skype to see it...
