Good morning boys. Went to a big show last night and heading to the show again later this morning. Getting Doug Gilmour's auto at the show today.

morning guys. its only 5 am here but i am still stuck at work for a couple more hours

You and me both, and now begins my rant.......... :/


I work for a rather large (world wide) company, a industry leader if you will, and a few months back They let the DOM (district opperations manager) go and on the spot appointed me the 'interm' DOM until they could find a replacement. Ultimatly, the decided upon giving me the position and it came with a hefty salery increase including many benefits, but this is where it turns sour...

To begin with, we were short staffed. I was down 1 associate when they gave me the promotion and they never replaced me, so I am now down 2. This means I went from a cushy 40hr work week to 12 hour days and Saturdays also. I hired on 1 associate a few weeks ago, but until properly trained, I still have to do most of the work and can not yet rely on the staff fully. I am in the process of hiring on another to get back to full staff but it will literally be months before I can go back to a normal work week...

Sure, some may say that "this is what it takes and/or what you get" for taking a demanding position and recieving a nice salery, but money is not everything to me. I really do not like leaving the house at 6:00am and not coming home till 6:00pm mon-fri and still have to work saturdays just to catch up.

Alas, I indeed do have a 'whatever it takes' attitude and the capabilities to suceed, and have done so thus far, but my batteries are starting to wear thin. Thank god that I'm getting married next month and can look forward to a nice week off! I suppose I should just be happy that in todays economy that they took a chance on a guy with less than a year with the company and only an associated degree to fill the shoes of a position usually reserved for senior, longtime employees with much higher degrees.

The hope for a capable staff of associates, and the promise of an easier work week keeps me motivated though, and through hell and/or high water I'll see it come to fruition.. Sorry for the long winded rant, it's just that after the millitary I promised myself I'd never sell my free time for anything again, and here I am working all my free time away for a measely $15K more a year...

Found out some more potentially bad new yesterday about one of my Aunts. Too much bad news going on in one week. Just hope it doesn't happen in threes.
