George - those A&G set collectors the hardest to win cards off of? Is that the most expensive set for you to complete?

Dont know how many guys are A&G auto set collectors, The Big Baseball names will be tough this year since the PR is 49.
I will not drop more than $1500 for this set (reds will be another matter and no, I know I will not build the entire set).
$1500 is what it will take me to get 1 card I need for a certain set.

I imagine it's got to be like any other auto/gu set. There are pros and cons
to trying to collect the set right after release. Obviously when people are
busting the most, is when availability is going to be at it's peak, but so is the
hype surrounding the product, so inevitably you are going to overpay for certain
cards. The upside is that you are eliminating the possibilty of not being able to
find those cards down the road.

I'm sure there are myriad 05 Absolute cards that I will never see, bc they were
busted and sold in 2005, and I wasn't collecting back then. If I had been, I probably
wouldn't have nearly as many cards as I do now, bc I most likely wouldn't have been
able to afford many of the cards due to the "hype inflation" at the time of release.

I hope some of this actually makes sense

One of the regulars hit the Phelps auto yesterday at the shop..

I have a couple of auto's that I pulled, did you get a chance to look at them?

Josh - I wish I could have gone today actually, bc that's when
Billy Williams will be there signing, but last night was the only time
I could get off of work

I was just kinda disappointed with the whole thing overall. I've never
gone to a show and not spent my alloted $$. Last night I took $120
with me, and only spent $20. I was LOOKING for things to buy, and
still came up empty.

I was actually happier about finding this than anything else

Every copy that has ever popped on eBay has either been graded
or waaayyyy overpriced.

What's the story on that coin? Why have you been looking for one Charlie?

Man I feel like I haven't been in our awesome MT in awhile...the last 3 days have been NUTS!!! Thought I would pop in to say hello to all the best men I have met and befriended over this last year here on the FCB. I have made awesome friendships with many of you so for that, thanks guys!!! A HUGE thanks to YOU ALL for the overly generous wedding package...my collection is very nice and more than beefed up now and will hibernate just fine while I'm gone :lol: I just got everything scanned in so I will be able to "show it off" when we get to Florida (thank the world for laptops :lol: ). I hope everyone has a great day and I will be back and forth throughout the vacation :mrgreen:

Yes, for the 1998 set, I just need the Jeter now. I have only seen one and a board member owns it.
I still need 4 1997s and one of them will cost me HUGE!

As far as the A&G autos, I buy only from sellers whom have several ones I need at fair prices and combined shipping. I will back off now and get the rest as the prices come down. Reds obviously come 1 at a time.

as for Tiger's tantrums I have to agree with Charlie when you are that good and have a bad round his anger is going to show and I remember some of Jordan's tantrums which sometimes unfortunately involved yelling at teammates on the court.
