True enough. Again, I am not trying to complain about the Saints as much as the officials. It really made no difference to me who won. My team got beat by the Jets in the first round.

I agree that bad calls happen all too frequently. That 4th and 1 and the pass interference made a difference in the outcome though. Again, it's not the Saints fault, but you can't say that those didn't contribute to a Saints victory.

Again, congrats to Dan and Therion (and any other Saints fan if I missed one)! The Super Bowl should be solid.

Umm, there were some pretty bad calls in favor of the Vikings, too. Game was played with the same horrible officiating that plagues the entire season. You can almost factor it in to the gameplay as if it were the norm.

GO SAINTS!

All apologies to the Saints fans, but the referees have done everything they can to give them the game. Pierre Thomas was stopped short on that 4th down. Every angle that Fox showed, you could see that Thomas was short. It was reviewed and somehow they let the Saints keep the first down.

It would have been one thing had the Saints actually won the game as opposed to be given call after call. I am a fan of neither team, but there were some bad calls on that last drive that gave the Saints the game.

I'm lost on the first down you're talking about.... The one where the ball was knocked out of his hands yet he recovered it mid-air? He was over the line. I may be mistaken on the one you're talking about, though.
How about the roughing the passer call that wasn't REALLY roughing the passer? Officiating was bad both ways, but the Saints gave up way more penalty yardage. Can't blame a game's outcome on officiating in any case, though. A better team is going to win.

Whatever guys. I'm not trying to argue or fight. I'm not saying anything bad about your team. The Saints have been a solid team all season. My problem is not with the Saints.

Like I said before and even agreed with Therion. Bad calls happen. Unfortunately, you hope for and expect more out of the officials who are calling playoff games. There were 2 calls on the final OT drive that did help contribute to the outcome. Again, I'm not saying anything bad about the Saints. It's not the Saints fault. They scored more point, therefore they won. My commentary is directed at the officiating.

Adam, I'm sorry bud. He lost control and when he regained control he was not over the line. His head and shoulders were about even with it, but the ball never made it. Again, it doesn't matter. The game is over and the Saints won. I'm not trying to bash the Saints.

Oh, no, Musk. Don't get me wrong. I'm in no way trying to pick a fight -- just defending. I agree that the officiating is horrible.. it really is. But it's been so bad for so long in every which-a-way that you almost have to factor it into the games, now. Kind of like handicaps in golf.

True enough. I just don't want you, Dan, or Therion to think I'm downing the Saints. That is so not what I am getting at. They need to improve officiating throughout the entire season, but in the playoffs, you really expect the best officials to be out there. There were some bad no calls in the Green Bay-Arizona OT game. Rodgers was hit helmet to helmet by a defensive player and no flag was thrown. Then when he fumbled (which decided the game), the defender that hit him took him down by his facemask. There were bad calls in every game, but at the very least, you expect better in the playoffs.

I'm happy for Saints fans. I know it has to be a great feeling heading to the Super Bowl for the first time. I understand heartache. My team hasn't won a playoff game in 19 years and haven't been to the Super Bowl in 21 years. It can be downright painful sometimes.

Did you have a chance to go through that Dawson list yet Charlie? Some of the cards you were telling me about sound pretty cool.

Gonna do that 1st thing tomorrow morning. ;)

Very cool. Everything going alright? I accidently pissed off Therion I think. Dan may not be too pleased with what I said tonight either. I never meant to offend or upset anyone. Obviously the Saints were the better team tonight. I was just commenting on the officiating (and this game was no isolated incident). So I guess I filled in for you today.

Thanks for taking up the mantle.

I was reading that earlier, and I don't see any reason for anyone to be pissed. You call it like you see it,
and there have been times were bad officiating affected the outcome of games. Like you said, by the time
you get this far in the playoffs, the absolute best available should be on the field. No mistakes.

Exactly. I probably should have worded it better or something. I wasn't trying to say anything bad about the Saints at all. They're a good team.

Saints fans have right to be happy and celebrating though. It's very cool that they are going to play in their first Super Bowl.

Now, we need to work on the Cubs Charlie. They need to find a way to make it back to the World Series. :D
