I'm watching wrestling on my DVR with my girlfriend. It's pretty exciting.

I'm hungry and wish I could eat something. :(

It's going alright Scotty. You?

It's not that I don't have food. I just can't eat. I have GERD (gastroephogeal reflux disease) and I'm not supposed to eat within 2-3 hours of going to bed. I have a lot of problems with what I can and can't eat now and when. Which really sucks because I used to just eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Now I have to think about whether it's safe for me, when I'm going to bed, if it's going to cause me pain, etc.

I also end up in pain sometimes where I get really severe pain in my upper stomach and lower chest area. That's the worst part about the whole situation is when the pain comes on. It normally happens when I'm sleeping and lasts for several (3-12) hours and is the most intense pain I've ever dealt with in my entire life. Pretty much nothing helps with the pain or makes it go away other than going to the ER and getting some super strong pain medicine that basically knocks me out.

If the Kinder was a 54 I would've hit the bin at the price he has it at 175. Thats crazy that the Speaker is already that high.

Ouch that's terrible....sorry to hear that man :(

And I feel for ya because I always eat before I go to bed, if I couldn't do that I would be pretty disappointed. Actually stomach problems run in the family because my mom has had colitis nearly all her life and has to take 8+ pills everyday. She has dealt with a lot of stomach pains in her life so I'm pretty sure she can relate to you.

Is GERD treatable with medication at all??

Yeah, it's basically just a fancy term for acid reflux. So they originally prescribed me omeprazole which is the generic for Prilosec. It didn't do anything so they told me to stop taking it. Then I had an Endoscopy and Bravo test back in June and they told me they didn't find anything out of the ordinary and it's probably just GERD so basically "deal with it" and blah blah blah. Then it went away completely shortly after that. It didn't resurface until the beginning of October when it came back out of no where.

By October I no longer had health insurance so ever since then there's basically been nothing I can do other than just deal with it. I've been in pain quite a few times since then and basically just have to try to knock myself out with Tylenol Extra Strength PM which has sleeping pill stuff in it. It doesn't really help much but there's nothing really else I can do. Nothing helps with the pain. I've taken Maalox, Pepto Bismol, Prevacid OTC, Prilosec OTC, Omeprazole, Tums, Alka Seltzer, Milk, anything I can think of. None of it helps once the pain starts.

I honestly have no clue what causes the pain or how to avoid it or stop it. Neither do the ER doctors and like I said I don't have medical insurance so I can't go back to the doctor to see a specialist and try to get it figured out. So basically I'm terrified every day I'm going to end up in pain when I go to bed and don't really eat much to hopefully avoid pain. I have no idea if eating is what causes the pain when I'm sleeping or not. I've lost almost 15lbs since October because I don't really eat much anymore.

As of now I take Prevacid OTC every day and have tried to stay away from fast food and fatty foods and try eating healthier. Eat a lot more plain sandwiches, cereal, mashed potatoes (plain), and other bland crap. It seems to be helping keep the pain attacks from happening for the most part, but not always. So I really have no clue. I just keep doing it in hopes that it will go away or stay away long enough to get health insurance and get back to the doctor and figure out what's really going on.

It's frustrating and stupid. Before April I had absolutely no problems with any of this.

It literally came out of no where one night and has been a huge pain in my ass ever since. When I went to the specialist and talked to him and told him what all was going on he basically had no explanation as to what it was or why it was happening. He said he had never heard of the situation I was describing and it had him baffled. Then after the Endoscopy and Bravo test he basically told me it was nothing and just that I have acid reflux.

I honestly don't know if it's just acid reflux or even acid reflux at all. I honestly don't even exhibit any of the symptoms of acid reflux that people would traditionally think of. I very rarely get heart burn and don't seem to react to any specific foods other than red sauce based stuff giving me heart burn occasionally. Now that I'm on Prevacid though I don't seem to get heart burn at all so I'm pretty sure it's actually helping with that.

The extreme pain in my upper stomach and lower chest seems to come out of no where. It doesn't seem to really matter what I eat. Whenever the pain does happen it's usually been like 6-10 hours or even longer since I've even eaten anything. So it completely baffles me as to why it happens.

He must be quite the specialist huh, Mr. Jeremy "Mystery Man" Weimer? ;)

I went to a lung specialist who could not figure out why I kept getting pneumonia (10+ times over the past 9 years) and still does not know. I actually had it again this past spring but that was because my roommate had a REALLY bad chest cold....thanks a lot TJ! ::facepalm::

Off to bed though, good night Jeremy, Talmer, Andy, and whoever the heck else posts in this damn thread. :benson:

Really late/early I guess, but just got done shoveling. Its looking like this storm is going to be worse then we thought. Here in MN, we were expecting 12-15 inches, but now its looking like we may be getting over 2 feet. It wasn't supposed to come down hard until Christmas eve going into Christmas morning, but in a matter of a few hours I had to shovel 4 inches. I think this may be a Christmas storm to remember.

By the way, happy Hollidays everyone!
