Found some slabbed cards digging around in the basement. In around 1995, for the first and last time, I sent some cards into PSA. Unfortunately, I still own most of them today. After this disaster, I pretty much stuck with oddball stuff where grading doesn't matter. My first entry to this thread. You'd think I would have done well with a stud Yankee prospect, a hot set (at the time), and great grades, yet I still own these.

I only used BGS once off a subscription gift and I sent in a 2009 Topps Babe Ruth SP (not too bad on that as it got a 9.5) but I also sent in a Topps David Price Rookie and it got a 9. I felt dumb because I could have sent in more than a base rookie that got a 9...

These are the worst grades I got. I still have no idea why these graded so bad. You'd think trimming, but I remember they sent back a card and didn't grade it because they said it was trimmed. Did the printing dot on the 1982 Traded usually knock down the grade that much?

I remember seeing in one of the registries that someone graded a 1989 Donruss Juan Nieves and it graded out at a 5. This was several years ago, might have been PSA, but what a waste of money!

I picked up a BGS 9 2001 Fleer Authority Andres Torres RC for 33¢. It was graded long before he was a post-season hero for the Giants, back when he was just another failed AAAA prospect. At some point I also picked up a PSA 10 1991 UD Gold Hologram Dean Palmer. Makes a 10¢ card into a $2 card!

I sent a Cory Hahn Bowman Chrome Red Ref in to get slabbed, it got a 9. He got crippled while it was at BGS.

Can anyone beat that?

I have a huge arsenal of graded mediocrity. I'll have to add to this list sometime soon. A few that come to mind:

- 99 Bowman Chrome Erubiel Durazo BGS 8.5
- (3) 99 Bowman Chrome Juan Rivera BGS 9
- 99 Topps Traded Nate Cornejo Auto BGS 9.5

What was I thinking grading Matt Green? I still have 3 base auto 9.5s and 2 refractor auto 9.5s.

You should make that the cornerstone of your Matt Green collection.
