The only problem with this thread is that EVERYONE knew the Phillies were going to be good. There is no surprise factor whatsoever. The Brewers were never favored this year let alone compete for the best record in NL and maybe ML when all is said and done. I do apologize saying that the Brewers will have the best record in the NL after they sweep the Phillies as the Brewers have played 5 more games than them this year so your winning percentage will be a bit better. I guess it is no different when Jose Reyes sat atop the batting leaderboard while he was on the DL to only come back and lose that spot from Ryan Braun.

I understand the Phillies fans' arrogance as you have the best pitching staff in the major league, but again, we all knew they were going to have a great season. Just don't let that arrogance turn to anger when you are watching the Brewers in the World Series. You need to just appreciate your season and try again next year. :D

I don't know where the heck you are getting arrogance from? They have the best record in the league, 3 legit Cy Young candidates and a team that is almost completely healthy. Don't let your irrational hating cloud your opinion or anything. Chump.

Brewers couldn't beat us with CC when we only had Cole, why do you think you can beat us without CC and us throwing
out Vanimal +Cy Youngs?

I think you all should make a play for Konerko when Prince is gone.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Brewers in the WS, but it also wouldn't surprise me to see the Braves in the WS either.

And the Brewers gotta get past the Braves before they play the Phillies and win 4 times.

Just sayin'

You are correct, right now they have the best record. After the season is over with the Brewers will hold the best record. I am not saying anything against the Phillies organization or their pitching staff. In fact, they are very good, however they won't have enough to get past the Brewers. The arrogance has been shown by the fans all season long and like I said above, I do understand why the fans should be feeling this way, but again, it doesn't come as a surprise. Everyone knew going into the season that the Phillies would have the best rotation in baseball.

I guess what I am trying to say which you nor any other Phillies fan will understand is that the Brewers are the better team and will have no chance in the playoffs. To be honest, the only team that slightly scares me is the Diamondbacks. So go ahead Phillies fans, continue to make posts like these that the "Phillies are good", it won't matter after season's end and a first round flop out in the playoffs.

I guess the best advice I can give to both sides in this debate is it may be good to act like you've been there before.

If Phillies Fans arent afraid to play any team in the post season, you arent very bright.
If Brewers fans arent afraid of the same thing, well, the same explanation stands.

Carry on, if you wish.

Very true, but how many teams in the exact same position have flopped?

I hate the Phillies, and I actually like the Brewers, so I wish there was some kind of reality to what prospectorgems is saying. It's true that everybody knew Philly would be good this year, and they actually lose more often than many people thought they would.

The Phillies are going to be worn down come playoff time. Their last day off was Aug 28. They are in the middle of playing 31 days in a row(!) and there are two double headers in there, so 33 games in 31 days to finish the season. They could possibly limp across the finish line. With the best record in baseball. The Brewers have 3 days off between now and the end, and no double headers.

Right now the Phillies are sitting at 41 games over 500. The Brewers are a mere 28 games over 500, 6 1/2 games behind Philly. If the Brewers sweep the Phillies, they could pull to 2 1/2 games back. Then they might have a chance. But how you gonna sweep Philly? I just don't see it. Then the Brewers have another set with Cincy, and they are .385 against them this year. While the Philles have the Padres, and they are 7-1 against them.

I just don't see any possible way the Brewers end up with a better record. I do see how they could beat the Phillies in the playoffs though!

You may want to take into consideration if they play well enough and clinch early, they wont be so tired.

I just like having fun with the Phillies fans since there appears to be a lot of them on the boards.

All I really wanted to say is that making a thread that the Phillies are good is pointless because they were marked as "good" even before the season started. Now if someone were to make a post about the Diamondback or Tigers than it would be perfectly fine because no one predicted them to go to the World Series.

Been a Phillies Phan now for 41 years. (yup even as a infant i was at the Vet) I have seen them at there best (1980 world series) and the worst (late 80's) I hung in there. This win tonight marked us at 90 wins!
Hope this will be the year!
and as for the title of this thread? it should be "The Phillies are the best"

Well, if we're looking at the records right now, the Phillies ARE the best in the league. So based on stats, that is a true statement...not arrogance.

Of course this is the regular season...the playoffs are a whole new animal. But Phillies fans have a reason to be "arrogant", at this time.
