Let's not construe this as just another Jeter thread. What do you guys think of this concept being developed by Jeter?

Will be interesting to see what athletes participate.

I like it , not sure how open a player will be , but I don't see any downside really. Hopefully some players voice something that is meaningful that they wouldn't to a normal press reporter etc

To be real honest it seems like an idea that would have been huge 10 years ago.

Twitter kind of kills it for me. We get unfiltered athlete opinions all the time now.

Not to mention, with Twitter, you get the passionate, "in the moment," emotional rants/posts. Ones that the player often regrets, and deletes.

With the Tribune, it seems like the articles are going to be polished and edited, eliminating the risk of being too "real."

The idea is a good one, I like the concept of "less filtered" access to athletes. In this day and age, nobody really speaks their mind. We'll see how it pans out though. If it's too polished, scripted, or bland, it probably won't work.

A few years back, ESPN the Mag did a running article from an athlete that was writing in anonymously. I found it very enlightening to hear what an athlete really thought, even though it was hidden in anonymity. Getting closer to that would probably make the site shine.

It looks like it's already slowed down, and I doubt it'll be updated very often. Even pro writers have trouble creating enough content to keep things going...

I don't think it will be practical. The leagues and teams will still punish anything players say that they don't agree with.

As long as they're well-written and interesting, I'm all for it. Beautifully designed website, too. Reminds me of Grantland when it first started.

Russell Wilson's "blackness" is challenged by Percy Harvin.

If we don't hear from him on that, this site is not relevant.
