Was yesterday's game worse than usual?

I only ask because I used to really enjoy it - but I haven't watched much (if any) of the game the past 5 years or so. I watched last night and it seemed really bad - I know when I used to watch they didn't go 100%, but it looked like about 40% most of last night. With defenders just jogging to the ball-carrier and not even attempting to tackle.

So maybe I'm simply choosing to not remember how bad it always was? I dunno.

And I also enjoyed watching the skills competitions when they'd have them. It was always odd though because they never made a big deal of it like the other all-star weekends. I'd usually stumble upon it on ESPN or ESPN2 or something at some odd time.

I thought it was the worst I have ever seen. It used to be somewhat bearable. The only reason I brought it up is because it just keeps getting worse and worse with no signs of getting better. I'm finally just done with it.

I just heard that ratings from the Pro Bowl is up around 8% from last year and was the highest rated Pro Bowl since 1997. Looks like some people still enjoy it for what it is.

I'm old enough to have seen pro bowls before. It's just a novelty game, nothing more. I've also seen NBA All-Star games where players are "running around like idiots" and seen...although not recently, MLB All-Star game where people are laughing, joking and doing whatever. If you re-read what I wrote, I said if you are expecting a game, you are alone on an island. I never said i enjoyed the game either...only said it's worth keeping around.

I may not be the oldest guy on the boards, but I do have the decency to actually read and respond appropriately to what someone posts...rather than put words in others mouths or make ASSumptions as to what a poster intended to say. Perhaps you should try doing that as well.

Sad thing is, I did not disagree with you about the game. I thought it was boring as well! All I said was that the Pro Bowl DOES serve a purpose. It just isn't all that much about football. More of a nice vacation for more elite players and a nice little bonus for playing your balls off when it counted.

Oh, one other thing. Check your bolded statement above then re-read what your first response was to me. You called my opinion about being alone on an island 'senseless.' Wouldn't that constitute 'trying to make a person look bad simply because they disagree?'

I liked the army all american high school game more. The probowl really was a boring game. I was excited to watch it but it quickly turned into a joke.
Football is by far my favorite sport but the probowl is by far the worst professional allstar game. The NHL puts on a great show and the MLB allstar game is a fun to watch even though I'm not much of a baseball fan. As a fan of football the probowl is an aweful football game. Watching the probowl and calling it football is like watching the WWE and calling it wrestling.
