the recent post with the gehrig button card got me thinking

i would choose a button. they are much rarer than autos, especially of old players that didnt get a new jersey every week.

I chose the same. For my guys, there are tons of patches and autos.

I don't have a bat barrel but that wasn't an option so I'd go with a Patch from an Expos uni of Larry Walker. There aren't any so if one were to be made I'd crap myself.

IT DEPENDS ON THE CARD. Cannot generalize without knowing what you are comparing.

For a Gehrig card, i think most people would prefer an auto, then a patch, then a button.
