Reinstated New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez admitted to use of performance-enhancing drugs during a meeting with the Drug Enforcement Administration in January, according to a report from the Miami Herald.

Two sources confirmed details of the Herald's report to ESPN.

The Herald, citing a written "report of investigation," says Rodriguez told the DEA that he paid Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch for testosterone cream, testosterone gummies and HGH injections. According to the report, one such injection took place in the men's room of a Miami nightclub.

"Rodriguez injected the HGH into his stomach," the DEA report stated, according to the newspaper. "Rodriguez said Bosch told him the HGH would help with sleep, weight, hair growth, eyesight and muscle recovery."

According to the report, Rodriguez was also trained in tricks to beat a urine test.

Alex Rodriguez was reinstated after the end of the 2014 season after serving a suspension.
"Bosch advised him to only use mid-stream urine for MLB drug testing," the DEA report stated, according to the newspaper. "Bosch told Rodriguez not to use the beginning or the end urine stream."

This marks the first time Rodriguez has admitted to using PEDs between late 2010 and 2012. In 2009, the Yankees third baseman admitted to using PEDs while with the Texas Rangers in 2001.

This new admission stands at odds with Rodriguez's multiple public statements of innocence during the Biogenesis scandal.

The Herald's report comes a week after court filings revealed that Rodriguez paid his cousin Yuri Sucart nearly $1 million in exchange for Sucart's silence regarding Rodriguez's illegal PEDs use.

Rodriguez, who had a 211-game suspension reduced to 162 games, was reinstated to the Yankees' active roster Oct. 29. He does not risk further punishment from Major League Baseball.

Not surprised by any of this, not sure why anyone would be. ARod should just take his ball and go home and count all his money IMO. Not sure why he would ever try and make a comeback or win over fans again. Really sad how he fell so far and so hard... o well.

Every baseball player should use roids. I loved watching Barry, Mark and Arod smash home runs like crazy. Who really cares how they do it?

That's the trick? Use urine midstream? That sounds pretty complicated so I'm sure no other player would be able to do so...

Too bad he can't be further punished for this admission. I wish he would just be forced to retire, because it's going to be annoying to read and watch the constant reports about him this season, at least on ESPN.
The MLB Network will most likely continue to stear clear of the circus atmosphere that ESPN usually broadcasts.

Oh, I'm sure if he intends to set foot on the field again, he'll pop positive on another test. Given that he's been using all along, I find it hard to believe he has any incentive to go clean.

I'm certain the Yankees legal team is working on getting the remainder of his contract voided somehow in light of his admission to PED use....

I don't know about passing drug tests but it sounds like a great way to spill urine everywhere.

Has he ever failed a test?

Why? Well, for starters, he still has a LOT more of the Yankees' money yet to count. Without looking, I think he's owed like 60 million for the next few years? He's gotta keep playing (or attempting to play) to get the checks, though. Second, he loves the spotlight, and he will definitely get it, if not for the exact reasons he wants. Third, I think he loves playing baseball and doesn't want to let go of the fact that he was among the all-time greats, chemically altered or not.

Like him or not, his is a fascinating tale.

The last line of the story quoted above:

He does not risk further punishment from Major League Baseball.

The Yankees and baseball need to be rid of this guy. Posterize him like shoeless joe (who didn't deserve it) and Pete rose (who did)

That just means he won't be suspended by MLB again for his admission.

MLB and the Yankees are basically the same thing. What recourse do the Yankees have? They loved that Arod was on roids in '99, so they can't just get out of that ridiculous contract now that they feel like it.

They should just test him like crazy, maybe spike his piss so he fails. Would are save them a lot of money!

I'm more curious as to whether he has ever actually been tested. So I guess I shouldn't have said "another". But as an admitted user, you'd think he would be subject to more than the typical "random" testing. It is clear that MLB still really doesn't want to catch anyone.
