I used to collect Hank Blalock but not being able to get everything and him having so many cards was a really a pain to try to get caught up so i think im going to collect a newer player.

I've been thinking about who i would want to collect and the name that keeps coming back to me is Nolan Reimold. I really like the kid and think that he'll have a successfull career. Not to mention, he doesnt have to many cards out there right now so there wont be to much to look for. I probably wont start buying his stuff until the offseason because im broke fromt he National but ive been wanting to start another player collection and one that wouldnt overwhelm me.

Are you only looking for prospects to player collect?

What are you going to do with all the Blalocks you already have? Keep or sell?

i kept the blalocks i wanted and traded most of the rest about two years ago. I dont see Reimold as being a prospect. I easily see him being an everyday player from here on out.

Reimold is a beast. He should get a starting job next year.

I can't see this being a bad idea. He is solid, I just didnt know if you were going to go for someone thats another vet, or even retired.

I know it would take an act of god for me to have all of the walter johnson stuff out there, but the era of baseball that he played in is part of the reason that I collect him. That, and the fact that I consider him the greatest pitcher in baseball history.

Collect Zimmy! He's a local guy for you so there will be a ton of stuff available. And then you and I can strengthen our bond and we could be blood brothers 4 Life!

Collect Trent Oeltjen. He's the same age of Reimold ,but with more speed. He's also from Australia. Future leadoff hitter for the D-backs. Currently flying under the radar.

Here is a card to start your collection.

His best card.

That raises a good question for blann.

Do you ever think about adopting a new collection while you wait for other things to pop up at auction for Zimm?

When things are slow, do you just save your money so that you can afford the elusive stuff?

I forgot to mention that Reimold is a Pennsylvania boy so that kind of helped me make my decision. ;)

Dan--thats a good question. I actually have a hankering for Griffey, Jr. I know its a high end type of player, but I still collect him as he is probably my favorite veteran right behind Jeter. Jeter's stuff is WAAAAAY too pricey. Its Zimmy, then Griffey, and then whoever I find that catches my eye.

Dont worry if you can not get everything of your chosen player. If Reimold is good enough or stays in the league long enough you will not be able to stay cought up. Its about getting the best stuff you can while staying withi your budget.

Well said John. I have adopted that mindset. Obviously I can't afford everything of Zimm, so I pick and choose what I want. I like nice multicolor patches so I pick up ones like that rather than some one or two color patch cards that might be more rare. Same goes with a good auto.
