Just to add to the fact of how sad it is, my company owns season tickets 8 rows behind home plate, with free parking, and I couldn't even find an employee to take them for free.

Even more sad that they are so pathetic I didn't even want to use them :(

Andrew hit it on the head, it's Angelos!! Get rid of him, make the team respectable again and tickets will be hard to get again!

I still say he should have pushed to get out of the AL East when he negotiated the Nationals deal...

I can certainly sympathize with the fans in Baltimore. The Pirates have lost an entire generation of fans, now going on a second generation. Very rarely do you see anyone below their mid 20's at games, besides some very young children. And when you do see younger people at games, they're usually the type that show up 2 innings late wearing a Sidney Crosby jersey, get up every inning break for concessions, and are gone by the 7th inning stretch. With two other championship caliber teams, Pittsburgh simply doesn't have any reason to bother following baseball. Hopefully Baltimore can turn things around before they go any farther down the same path.

Granted its early, but I thought they would be better than the Blue Jays, who I thought were going to replace the O's as the AL East last place team.

I still think, no, KNOW, the Jays wont end in first, let alone second or third, but I never thought the O's were this bad.

I had no idea they cant draw at all and when I heard the attendance numbers, I was shocked.

It is a bit exaggerated because I believe this series has been the lowest attendance series the last few years. By this series I mean the early April weeknight series, but under 10K is bad.

It doesn't matter how good their young talent is, there's no chance they can compete with NY, Boston or Tampa.

Bingo! Baltimore is 100% a Ravens town now, because they at least have an honest shot of winning.

If Tampa (who plays under a circus tent) can find a formula to become competitive despite having no grand baseball history to fall back on, no historical face of the franchise and a limited fan base can win....then Baltimore has a chance. It all boils down to execution.

It should be very interesting to see how attendance is tonight. For months the club has been advertising "Matt Wieters T-Shirt" night in hopes of a big draw (which is tonight). Additionally, Brian Matusz is also pitching. I will make an update post tonight.

P.S--Fans are so hungry for winning baseball in Baltimore. When Wieters made his MLB debut, the game was a near sellout and he received a standing ovation the entire series.

Yah I went to his MLB debut. Luke Scott put on a show though that day. If he could learn to hit to LF he would hit .300 with 25 HR easy. Instead he'll settle for .250 and 20 HR :?

It makes me sad to read this and I am a Red Sox fan. I have taken advantage of fact that Baltimore is around 5 hours south of me and good tickets are easy to get. I have taken my family there the past 3 years.

The Inner Harbor is family friendly, the park is beautiful and easy to get to, and all the seats have a great view of the game. I know this will sound blasphemous coming from a Red Sox fan, but I would rather see a game there versus Fenway any day. Fenway Park is nostalgic, but it can not compete with Camden Yards for comfort and amenities.

In chatting with an usher at the park, he hated to admit it, but he looked forward to the Yankees and Red Sox games these days as they were the only ones that he would make a decent payday at. He had been there since the park opened so he saw the good days when the seats were always filled with Orioles fans.

I hope that things turn around for the Orioles and they once again become a player in the AL East. Baseball is better when the majority of teams are competitive.

This thread breaks my heart :(

There's nothing worse than seeing fans give up on a team.....especially a YOUNG team!!

I say support your team regardless. Be a true fan.

I hate seeing post-2004 Red Sox fans showing up and taking over these smaller market stadiums when Boston comes to town. It would make me want to show up more, and cheer on my team in front of these fair-weather jerks.

I went to a ton of Sox - O's games in 2002 & 2003 and there were a hell of a lot more Sox fans than Orioles fans. Even then. It's not a new thing. No one in Maryland cares about the Orioles.

Bandwagon Nation has been alive and well the better part of a decade. The ratio for Orioles vs. Red Sox games has approximately been at Camden Yards: early 1990s (90/10), mid 1990s (80/20), late 1990s (70/30), early 2000s (60/40), mid 2000s (30/70, the official start of Bandwagon nation), late 2000s (20/80) and 2010 (probably will be 10/90). The lack of Oriole success and ESPN creating legions of new Red Sox "fans" every day has created this. To say no one in Maryland cares about the Orioles is silly. The majority have gone underground. Now the Washington Nationals, that's the beltway team without a fan base. I've honestly never met in person a diehard Nats fan.
