How does a trade to Oakland suddenly make him a MLB caliber defensive third baseman?

Well then, let's look at the plethora of third basemen in the A's minor league system who are ahead of Wallace.

Oh, wait. There aren't any.

Cardenas has played some third this year which is a surprise to me. He played very little games at 3rd when he was in the Phillies system, so he might be the next 3B for the A's.

Wallace could easily end up at first as well. Or DH.

Only have 2, but for $20 per, I don't worry so much 8-)

Those are beautiful cards! If you're only in them for $20 each I don't think the trade would be a problem. There will be tons of East Bayers that would gobble them up (I grew up in Danville, CA).

People don't want "scrubs."

It sounds like it's 1-1 right now.

There really wouldn't be a logjam, it'd be the same as opening day. 4 OFers, 3 spots, rotate them. It worked pretty well.

Exactly. The A's market isn't huge, but as with any team if a few team collectors (points to self) really want something A's...you'd be surprised with the price. The thing with team collectors, and I'm mostly speaking for myself, is that I pick up cards only of players who have done something with the A's so prospect cards aren't for me.

This isnt true...

1) the deal as being reported now would be Holliday and about $6mil of his contract paid by the A's for Wallace.

2) how is there a logjam??? Duncan is gone, so that leaves Ankiel, Ludwick, Rasmus and then Holliday. Ankiel and Rasmus are not really tearing the cover off the ball either, though Rasmus is doing pretty damn good for a RC.

Basically you figure Holliday and Ludwick are out there every day and you platoon Rasmus and Ankiel which is pretty much what they have been doing anyways.

I really wish they would make a push for Dye over Holliday only because I think he is a better player at this point, but Holliday is younger and probably easier to sign so it makes sense. Dunn's 3/3 campaign yesterday probably was a good showcase a bit for the Cardinals as well.

You know you've been on this site too much when you're calling rookies rookie cards.

With the Sox taking over first from Detroit, Dye isn't going anywhere.

Would you rather have Wallace hitting in a lineup where the most dangerous hitter is:

Albert Pujols

-or-

Scott Hairston

Statistics show that batter protection is nearly completely irrelevant.

Tell that to Ryan Ludwick.

I've read that too, but the fact of the matter is Pujols get's on base as much as the entire A's team combined (exaggeration). Thus, more RBI opportunities for the batters behind him.

I didn't mean to dispute that it couldn't help counting stats like RBI's, but rather the players in-the-box production.
