The Atlanta Thrashers have promoted Don Waddell to President and Rick Dudley to General Manager, according to Co-Owner Bruce Levenson. The team also announced that it will not retain Head Coach John Anderson and Assistant Coaches Randy Cunneyworth, Todd Nelson and Steve Weeks. In his new role, Waddell will focus primarily on all business aspects of the organization, and as General Manager, Dudley will be responsible for hockey operations.

Thank God Waddell is out of the GM role! Not too thrilled that he's still in the orginization but, as long as he's not overseeing hockey ops anymore I am ok with it. I like Dudley as GM, but kinda dissapointed to see JA get the ax after 2 seasons, I figured he would have 1 more year after having to deal with the Kovy situation the better part of the year.

All in all, another good day to be a Thrashers fan (wow, I've gotten to say that twice this month)

I was actually surprised to hear they fired Anderson as well. you would think after trading Kovy away they would give him at least 1 more season to see how the team reacts to playing without him.

hopefully these moves will convince Colby Armstrong to come back to Pittsburgh. he said earlier in the season he wouldn't resign with the Thrashers if Kovy was traded.

I don't know how he got such a long leash either......glad it finally tightened up on him and he gone.

as for Coby, I have a feeling he will end up in Pitt, and I will miss him. He's gonna be a heckuva player
