Funny moment at Wrigley on Sunday. It started to sprinkle, the groundscrew started to unroll the tarp, and then the rain stopped with them having it unrolled half way. The bleacher creatures started chanting "Roll it Back!, Roll it Back!" Made me laugh on an otherwise miserable day.

Its always a fascinating thing to see when a home run ball is thrown out. The ball is thrown in and then the ball person gives it to a fan in the first row. I gotta tell you, I hate symbolic gestures, especially one where all you're doing is giving your ball to some bratty, stuck up kid in the first row with 564 balls at home already since he's always in the first row.

I have been to many games, but have never caught a homerun or foul ball. If i did i would keep it regardless of who hit it. I can not think of a single scenario where i would throw it back.

Those of us in the know that do enjoy Wrigley, the bleachers, and the tradition of throwing the ball back bring a dummy ball in our pocket on the off chance we do nab a visitor's HR.

I seem to recall a guy in Chicago throwing a McGwire HR ball back in 1998. He was interviewed after the game and the reporter said he probably threw back a $10K ball, and the guy said he didn't care, that's what you do at Wrigley field. But you could see in his eyes the dawning of realization of dumbness.

Here in Texas, at least in Arlington, its unheard of to throw anything back. At least I've never seen it in 50+ games.

I always thought it was funny when hockey came to Florida. When a Lightning player first scored a hat trick in the first season, the few people who threw hats onto the ice got escorted out of the arena.

I find it funny that there are people all over the country that bash Wrigley and their fans, yet they have decided to take on one of Wrigley's best traditions. Pretty amusing...

I'd never throw a ball back. Still kinda bummed the ball landed in our box seats soon after the boys and I left to check on the wife and baby in the AYCE room. Fouled by Loney IIRC.
