Hello?

I think Tiger has cleared about 6k this year in earnings. He probably steals the hotel soap too.

Working for the Tampa Bay Lightning I get to interact with other pro athletes on a regular basis. I see both sides and in general the Rays (especially Longoria and Reid Brignac) suck tipping errr I mean don't tip, while the Buccaneers (Josh Freeman and Davin Joesph come to mind) are very generous.

The $2 tip is pretty bad, but I don't see why people expect rich folks to shell out these exuberant tips.

rich people are rich for a reason... and they sure don't care about the "common" folk that serve them. I'm really surprized they don't offer to sign stuff for people in place of paying them. I really think most of these people have such an inflated view of themselves that they think they can get away with stuff like this based on their fame.

Its funny, when Tiger was "on the road" to breaking Jack's record and winning everything no one talked bad about
him, he was like...Barry Bonds in 2002, now he is a joke and a bad tipper. These stories always come out when
guys are down....Lebron, Tiger...lol Madonna.

Read the write ups about Usher and Jeremy Piven from the story, that's exactly why they made the list. Usher leaves his Autograph as a tip and Jeremy Piven left someone a signed 'Entourage' DVD as a tip.

And I know exactly what you mean by 'rich people are rich for a reason' from my days as an Italian Restaurant delivery driver. I once pulled up to a mansion-style waterfront home with two Benz and a Porsche (just in the driveway, who knows what was in the three car garage) thinking, sweet, should get a decent tip for this one. Bill was $33.68, guy gave me $35, I asked the customary 'Do you need change?' and he replies, 'Only a $1', I then reach into my pocket and pull out $1 and two quarters which I hand back to him and state 'I think you need this more than I do, keep the change.' At least I walked away with my pride.

All from personal experience (not second-hand info):

Charles Barkley- All-Time great tipper, amazing sense of humor, and all around great guy.

Elton Brand- just what you would expect from a Duke Alum, classy as can be, brings a small group of friends in casual attire that are all equally classy. Their conversations are more like friar's club meetings than covorting athletes. Incredibly generous tipper in the same vein as Barkley.

Ben Affleck- so unbelievably generous that when one establishment refused to serve him (because of the legendary tipping stories) he left his entire balance with the staff (well over $15,000) without ever even employee their services.

Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Karl Malone: all as stiff as they come. Embarrassingly cheap and the worst part is that they demand VIP treatment. Talk about entitlement.

I could go on for hours, but those are just some personal experiences.

Edit:

Jamie Sharper: another classy individual who is an incredibly generous tipper.

Junior Seau: same as Sharper. A generous gentleman (though he has also been seen on some legendary party binges).

Antoine Walker: not overly generous though he has his moments. Posse sometimes gets out of hand but he is good about keeping them in check when he is around.

Allen Iverson: another LEGENDARILY cheap athlete. I once witnessed a $5 tip being given for a dozen bottles of Kristal served to his posse cocktail party style.

Will update as I think of more.

and I have heard he is one of the tippers out there

Best? Worst? Huh?

The thing about the Tiger story that rings a little false is the $2. Not that it's a tiny tip, but that he'd actually have 2 singles on him, and would go to the trouble to unroll them or whatever. If he tossed your friend a $5 casino chip or something, that would be the same level of cheapitude and be a little more believable. Not tipping at all would be as well.

That Bill Cosby story is hilarious. He actually wanted a black man to be his porter?

Two $1 bills. Hey even athletes get thirsty/hungry, never know when you might need to hit the beverage/snack machine or something. And if he's cheap enough to leave $2 for car detailing, he probably received them as change for something else. You know he wasn't leaving those two $1 bills to his server.....

And yes, that Bill Cosby story is a jaw-dropper. He actually made the list (at #8 I believe). Isn't that like reverse racism? He wanted a black man to carry his bags and/or roll out the welcome mat? You'd think he'd actually be happy to see a white guy having to wait on him if that were the case. Go figure.
" he probably received them as change for something else."

change back form the the woman escort.
good one.

Interest story but what does this have to do with Baseball?

Because this is where I post, Hobby-Talk Baseball, and Trade Forums Baseball......people try selling/trading non-baseball cards in the Baseball Trade Forums everyday and twice on Sunday, no one seems to care too much, because most people know that the Baseball sections get the most views. I could have put it in the 'Golf' Forum, but then how many people would have actually read it, three?

I hear that as a server / caddy / bus boy ect.... it is a violation to ask for an autograph when serving a big name person... but.... if i ever had the chance to serve someone like jordan or tiger... I would absolutely ask for an autograph... maybe even a second auto and a picture if they were in a good mood. To look at it from a business standpoint ... 2 bucks is BS... but if you got a really nice tiger auto and got it authenticated... thats an easy couple hundred. Just my 2 cents.

That really sucks. My cousin used to work at the Vinoy, it's a beautiful hotel. Just another reason Tiger is awful.
