Nah. It looks to me, judging from their past sales, that they will only have a few or less of each item. Plus they won't combine shipping which is kind of ghetto. I don't have the patience to sit there and wait around.

Technically it's illegal for a business (like WalMart) to offer a sale on an item only to have a few available. Not sure if this would apply to Blowout or not.

I don't remember the name of the law, but you have to have X amount (no idea how X is calculated) of an advertised sale product available. Theoretically a business could offer one flat screen TV for $50 just to get the traffic of hundreds or thousands of people wanting to make that purchase.

I'm not sure if they meet the minimum criteria to keep it legit, but yes, I'm sure many of their sales technically break the law.

They actually post how many of said product they have available. I'm sure if it was illegal here in the good ol USA someone would sue.

My Marketing Professor, who has a PhD, I'm fairly certain knows what she's talking about.

Your professor was talking about bait and switch, advertising something with no mention of limited quantities and transitioning the customer off the advertised product to a more expensive; or margin rich product. Many states have laws to help guard against this requiring the retailer to offer and honor rainchecks, and even some requiring that every item in the ad be displayed.
When dealing with the Black Friday deals retailers protect themselves by publishing minimum quantities available in their ads.

What time does the salw actually start at?

When an item becomes available, does it show on the front page? Or do you have to be looking at the actual item?

Thanks all. Have a great thanksgiving!!

lally,

it starts at 6:00. I am just wondering if you need to be sitting on an item hitting refresh, hoping to get it. Or, if the sales pop up on the front page....

no clue here

It's not illegal to offer door crasher specials, so long as the proper steps are taken. First off, blowoutcards is absolutely fine with regards to advertising law.

The problem only arises when a company a) takes out an advertisement b) falsely markets the sale, knowing that they haven't acquired enough.

Internet marketing's always a rough area, but for the most part -- prices posted on their site would be considered the same as a 9.99 Bin in a store.

The only time the problem would arise is if they marketed somewhere 9.99 National Treasure cases, yet only acquired 3 cases.

By law, they have to knowingly deceive people to be found liable. Even if blowout only had 3 cases of treasures, if they could prove that they tried to acquire more -- they'd be fine.

Everything about the law is arbitrary, and unless there's malice, it's tough to prove that a loss-leader was marketed without having been attained.

It's also difficult to charge for damages (punitive withstanding) because realistically, it's just a mouse-click or two.

at 1 pm Blow out will offer a deal on behalf of FCB

it will be on a popular prospect product at a price that you can't get elsewhere

having seen the deal, I will say that it isn't spectacular, but it is a substantial discount.
