To crack or not to crack a few PSA 10's? POLL

Based on my situation should I crack or not?

Hey guys, looking for some opinions here. A set I'm working on is at about 80% completion in BGS, avg. grade 9.21. I also work on this set in the PSA Registry. I have about 8 cards which are PSA 10's that are better looking cards than the cards I currently have in BGS 8.5/9. None of the PSA cards will grade BGS 9.5 (I'm sure of this... ref lines and looser centering) but they have good shots at straight 9's with maybe a 8.5 or two. Since the BGS set is my main set should I crack and submit even though I would basically be throwing a PSA 10 away?

Pro thoughts
-help my completion percentage of the set
-they are nicer cards than what i currently have in the set
-buy the card not the flip mentality

Against thoughts
-leaving money on the table
-half the cards have psa set registry collectors who would want them
-some are PSA pop 1's
-there's always a chance a better card shows up
-never crack a ten mentality

Leave in PSA 10 slabs. Sell them if you don't really want them and try to either pick up a graded copy in BGS form or a raw and slab it.

These 3 trump everything else, imo.

If it were me I would try to sell the 10's and wait for either some nice BGS copies to show up, or some decent looking PSA 9's to crack and grade with BGS.

This is also based on the assumption that we're talking about some decent money here, and not a $5-10 difference in a PSA 9 versus PSA 10.

I would suggest sticking with one company for the set if you're doing the registry thing. Too hard to maintain both obviously, and you'll sometimes have to deal with this dilemma. I ignore all cards not in a PSA slab when I'm buying for my registry.

EDIT - Just want to add that I agree with the first poll statement as well (buy the card not the holder). Just not in the context of this particular question.

I'm pretty sure you can just send them the slabs and they'll crack em there and slab them in BGS cases

As everyone else said, leave them in the PSA slab. There are some crazy PSA collectors out there that would probably pay good money for them. Take that money and buy a BGS version or a Raw version and get it graded.

If you're focused on BSG holders for your set ( I saw the 1995 refractor video you posted in the graded area the other day- very nice by the way. I did otice you had BGS 9.5 and some PSA 10s kind of mixed in) then consider crossing them over via submitting to BGS for crossover as George suggested. If you get half of them crossed over then it would probably be worth it- then you can sell off the PSA 10's that didn't cross over to BGS and use the cash to buy some raw copies or stash it for ebay auctions...
