Re: Today is supposed to be a BIG MAIL DAY for me ---

Off the top of my head I can think of about a dozen players, mostly more recent players, that won't sign their RC's. It usually has to do with the picture on the card being of the wrong player. The only example of a 80's/90's star that had this happen that I can think of would be Carlos Beltran's 95TT.

I doubt it's Ripken, because there are a ton of signed 82's circulating. Ripken does signings pretty regularly. I'm guessing the card is either of someone who is a pretty tough 'graph, or who is unwilling to sign their RC for some reason.

why would someone not sign their RC? the ONLY one i could think of would be the Billy ripken FF. (i think it's his rc)

Yeah but he wrote that on his own bat so if he won't sign it then whatever. That would make little sense.[/quote:id945lkw]

pretty sure someone wrote it as a rookie prank....

edit- i googled it and it says he admitted to it, but stuck to the prank story for a while[/quote:id945lkw]

Oddly enough I think I read it in a book I was reading a while back.I thought it pretty odd.

Without picture (obviously not possible unless you bought it online and the person provided a scan) or description this thread is pointless.

Ripken 82TT would be a sweet one!

That would be amazing!

You guessed it...but then again, not too many OTHER 80's and 90s players would get me that excited (Rickey was another BIG catch for me).

After 2 years of looking I have seen a few donruss (which i currently have, now for sale), and several of the TOPPS, but only ONE TOPPS TRADED has ever showed up, and the guy wanted $600 for it...even after negotiating he didn't want to take less than $500 for it and the auto was weak.

THE BONUS obviously is the inscription by himself (my idea though).

Meh -- very anti-climatic.

Just kidding! Awesome!

I know, just another ripken auto, but hey, if you looked every day for 2 years, and the only one that shows up is weak and a fortune....

I actually heard of the upcoming signing in Baltimor, by IRONCLAD, bought the card on ebay for the signing, and sent it off...then I waited another month for it's arrival.

it really was an "******** relief" ...

now it's time to for the foreplay of the next hunt...hmm...what's the next big one on my list....

Great card, congrats on knocking it off your list.

Are you going to get it authenticated?

IT's already authenticated by IRONCLAD, the company that Ripken does his signings for, but yes, I will have it slabbed by PSA/DNA as well...

Whoa interesting fact - Cal hit a homer his first MLB At BAT......I should really take time to read the backs of some of my favorite cards...

First AB of 82 season, not first MLB AB.

Great card.
