Tom Brady Contenders RC Auto

I am making this my next project to get one of these. Will take some time but I just had some general questions about them.
Do you know what they were going for
1) after the 1st SB
2) after the 3rd SB
3) after 18-0
4) before this season

Just curious, as I want to buy at maybe not the best possible time but not the worst either, so I would love some info on pricing of these over time as I have no idea. Also what do you see the value of this card being going forward.

The last question I had was, I plan on saving up for this card over time, so no real rush, and one would just take longer than the other. Would you recommend going for the base or all out for the championship ticket?

Brady has 5 1/1 rc's. None are autoed, but has anyone seen these, and would you expect them to go for around 5k or more?

Before the SB against the Giants these things were going crazy. I know they were selling for $1,500 minimum, even raw. I am wanting to say they were going up to $2K or more depending on the condition.

The problem I believe you are going to have with the Championship Ticket is the fact that with a run of 100 you will likely have difficulty finding one at a time that is buyer friendly. Most of the holders of those cards will wait until a good time to sell. The other issue is that you will most likely have to deal with BIN/BO only. Either way if I was going for a Brady RC I would want the Championship Ticket over the base as it is his best RC that is not a 1/1. For the record I have never seen one of his 1/1 cards to my knowledge.

As far as the value my only comparison is the Manning Contenders /200. Here recently the card is hitting unreal prices and I honestly have no clue. Yes Peyton is a great player but the card is hitting higher prices later in his career than the card was hitting after Indy won a SB earlier in his career. At the end of the day Tom is a HOF QB and there will always be a demand for the card, whether it be fans or HOF RC collectors.

I passed on a raw one last season for around $575. It had some chipping on the front, but looked good otherwise. Wished I would have picked it up.

Buy a graded one as many have been trimmed. Mint 9s get a premium because the dark edges make it a tough grade, so I'd try to buy a 8.5. They were going in the 5-6 hundred range in the offseason and have moved up.
07 was the big jump. They could be had for 250 forever until 07 when they more than tripled. Wait a couple months and get one for 600 if you can. That's a good buy IMO

Just curious as to why you guys think the Brady contenders took a HUGE jump in 07 and has stayed still at a high jump to this day prior to 07. Obviosuly the record TD's and 18-0, but he hasnt won a SB since. How did these not jump after winning 3 SB's in 4 years? I would think that garners a much bigger jump than 18-0. Maybe I just dont udnerstand cards though.

Damnit, I can't find the video. I'll look harder tomorrow but here's the long and skinny of it.

Known ebay scammers and forgers have been listing several of these at a time. At one time, there were close to 50 Brady Contenders autos on ebay at the same time between roughly 10 sellers. I'd suggest checking out videos by JOEMLM on YouTube for more info on these guys. I'll look for the Brady video tomorrow afternoon when I'm done shoveling snow.

They both dont have the playoff contenders logo raised a bit right next to bradys left sock like these do, if you see what I mean?

Okay, while I'm far from an expert in Brady's autograph, I did some research and here's what I've come up with from the listings you posted.

Exhibit "A" - This is 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag. I feel sorry for the person who paid $550 for this.

Exhibit "B" - While the auto is more consistent, it looks like this card was printed off of my computer and I have a ****** printer. The edges are chipped and corners are banged to hell. This is one of 2 that this seller has sold and in the past 2 weeks and used the seller used the same picture for both listings.

Exhibit "C" - See Exhibit "B"

Exhibit "D" - While the seller's location is a red flag, this is the only one of the 4 that I believe to be genuine. Reason being, unlike the other 3, this one is stamped authentic in the "T" of his name. That's how you can tell the difference between a fake and the real deal.

I'm saying check it over carefully before you buy. Even with graded you can't always be sure.

Hmm okay, it wont be for a little bit anyways. But when I am ready to buy and I have one in mind I will definitely check here before I pull the trigger.

This thread has been really helpful. I'm nowhere near close to buying this card but it's in my top 5 most wanted. I had no clue the fakes were this rampant.

Also I am a bit confused on the fakes. There were no non auto ones of these made by the companies correct?
your saying the people selling fakes printed these off their home computers and signed it themselves?
