Two Uptons and a Heyward is not what this Braves fan wants to see in our outfield.

I think the angels win long term. Waldens arm will be spaghetti in 2 years.
Hanson's arm is spaghetti now. His shoulder is shredded and if his stuff is the same going forward, he will get pounded in the AL.
Hanson's shoulder already is and costs $4 milI think the angels win long term. Waldens arm will be spaghetti in 2 years.
This wouldnt even be close. The diamondbacks arent going to take 4-5 players for Upton. They want Andrleton Simmons or Elvis Andrus as the key piece. Im sure if the Braves want Upton it will cost them Andrleton plus a major league ready arm either a starter like Mike Minor or a lefty reliever.Braves should've pushed hard to land Justin Upton. They could've shipped Hanson, Pastornick, and two players from this pool Ahmed/Spruill/Gilmartin/Sims/Graham/Northcraft to get it done.

I love the guy but there is something seriously wrong with his arm. If he gets back to 2010 form - highly unlikely for someone with a shoulder issue - this is a pretty good deal for the Angels. Otherwise, it is just more money off the ledger for Liber - er the Braves. My only hesitation is I wonder if the Braves have some opportunity cost here in that they could have swapped him for something more than a reliever. But I trust Wren knows the market much better than I do.
And an outfield of two Uptons and a Heyward would be fantastic IMO. Heyward was one of the 10 most valuable position players in the league during his age 22 season, J. Upton was an MVP candidate during his age 23 season, and B.J. is an above average CF despite his obvious issues with the potential to be much more. Sign me up. I just don't think the Braves have the talent necessary to satisfy AZ. Pastornicky, Spruill, Ahmed, and the poo-poo platter ain't getting it done.
Hiss stuff has been declining for the last two years. His fastball is one of the worst in the MLB. It is straight and slow. His shoulder had a slight tear with no surgery needed. Rest will fix that.. He did start off beastly in 11'.. So Even If the angels have to shut him down till June he will produce a greater return than the braves will get from walden. if he cannot regain his velocity he still knows how to pitch. 160ks with a jacked up shoulder! Thats pitching! In my opinion.
Waldens mechanics are going to smoke that elbow.. Literally he might have to use a fire blanket for a jacket.

And you keep talking about Walden's mechanics, have you ever seen Tommy throw? It's not pretty.

I disagree on Hanson. Shoulder Injuries for pitchers are a dead sentence for careers. I had them, I did rehab every day, twice a day for 5 years in college. I did end up having surgery, it didn't help. Rest and rehab are great, but a shredded shoulder is a shredded shoulder it will only get so much better. His velocity will likely be stuck in the 88-91 range no matter how much rest he gets.
