The reason I ask is because i just saw a BGS 9.5 base chrome sold for 40 dollars on a best offer which Has to be a record high for that card. A raw x got over 50 dollars recently as well. But Personally i think Hanson is the best SP prospect in the minors and could have a cueto like impact right away.
What do you guys think

I'm selling some and keeping some.

The upside on Hanson is big because,

A) He has Ace stuff, control, and deception
B) He has NO AUTO ROOKIES to compete with his chromes and parallels.

Downside,

A) He's a pitcher
B) He's a pitcher
C) You see where i'm going with this.

I truly think chromes could hit 25 bucks in the first few weeks alone if he starts off hot. Volquez jumped up to 15-20 each and so did Cueto. Bucholz, Hamels, all went higher due to their bigger markets.

Braves fans will push Hanson higher than that.

I'll always hold a few back in case that happens.

if you get offered 40 for a base chrome 9.5 sell it immediately.

Yeah yeah yeah, what he said!

With that being said.....I am holding on to a mass amount of his stuff and won't sell off even a base chrome. :ugeek:

Lol I think you guys misunderstood me. I don't have any bgs 9.5 base chromes cuz if I did I wouldn't ask about taking 40 per I would have done it in a heartbeat. I actually was just showing how much his cards have gone up I have a gold and red ref both raw and was wondering what you think those cards ceilings are is 400 and 900 out of the question. I mean the last gold got 180 and everything of his chrome wise is gone way up. Thanks

I sold the gold refractor for $180. Bought it for $70 last year so I was happy to take my profit and run especially since he is a pitcher and the card wouldn't grade a BGS 9.5. I see the ceilings as $500 for a raw red refractor, $300-$350 for a raw orange refractor and $200-$250 for a raw gold refractor because none are autographed unless he throws a no-hitter in his first start which isn't out of the realm of possibility with Hanson.

I know a red ref sold for 450 this past summer and another one for 440 during AFL season. I personally think it can get up to 700-800 because braves ace pitching prospect and clearly best card since no super has surfaced. An orange sold for 500 over this winter on a BIN and the sale was confirmed.

When 2007 bowman chrome came out I decided to go heavy after Jeff Locke and pick up what I could of Tommy Hanson. I still ended up with 50 chromes of Tommy Hanson and a blue refractor (being sold on ebay) and a refractor (keeping).
When a prospect hits I like to sell off whatever it takes for me to get my investment back.
I think the top scale for Hanson is $10.00 for base chromes. Right now they are at $5-6.00. Its a good time to sell some and makes some money. But also hold some back in case they explode if you can afford to do it.

I hate Braves prospects.

Had a Schafer Blue Ref.. traded it, about a month later it was sold for $100

Had a Hanson raw X.. sold it with a base chrome to gilmore for like $27.

Bah.

Yes i agree it seems obvious to sell now at these prices but if you have faith in a guy don't you wanna see what the can do in the bigs and how they start out when everyone is watching.

Doesn't this go against the number one rule of prospecting?- Don't get emotionally involved with your prospects- you will get burned. (For some reason this sounds like some sort of golden philosophy from the movie "Pretty Woman", something about never kissing the customer on the lips.....?)

In a perfect world you could sell 75% of what you have, cash 200% profit then freeroll with the rest-going for the big kill Sportscenter style.
In my case unfortunately all I have left is one blue and it's got to go...
