Today was suppose to be a 2 game autographing event but turned into one due to rain:

SDSU vs Utah

Tony Gwynn -3-3 ( OMLB SS + 90 Leaf + Scoremasters)

A fellow grapgher texted me that Tony didn't sign any yesterday and told everyone to come in early if they wanted a graph before the game today. Didn't sign off the bus and then made us wait a good 45 minutes until he did sign. One guy asked Tony if he minded signing 4 items and Tony said " I mind it, but you will just wait until after the game so I will sign them all". I asked him how his day was going and "he said am signing autographs at 11am in the morning".

Its raining so I doubt the Bees game gets played due to the amount of rain it received during the Utes baseball game. I post pics later on....

Those came out really nice. Sounds like he's really tired of signing.

was he getting pissy? or was he just annoyed b/c of other things? I have heard he is a nice guy from some, and a jerk from others..

I cant tell if he likes his job or not. I met him thtree times within the past year and everytime I get uneasy asking him for an autograph because he looks like he rather be somewhere else. Normally he will engage in small talk but not today.

A lot of his personal memorabilia was on Ebay, last month. Surprised to see so many of those momentos. They were being sold via a third party from San Diego.

He's getting over cancer, give the guy a break. I think signing autographs is the least of his worries.

Tony is the man.

Oh no. The collector comes first over anything. Especially some jagoff getting 4-5 items signed at a time. Now get your facts straight padremurph.

Its not like he had cancer treatment last week.

Just happy to get the Scoremasters card signed. He has skipped over it the last two times.

Nice successes on Gwynn.....I think that players do get tired of signing especially if people ask for multiple autographs at one time. Billy Williams will only sign one for you and if he catches someone getting two or more he will quit signing and he leaves. Personally I have learned that sometimes players will not want to sign and I can respect the fact they do not want to sign.

Wow, yes he has much more important things to worry about. Like signing all of your items that you really only need one of.

In 2001 I was at a Cardinals game, I was a huge fan of Tony he did his usuall line up and I will sign routine. I was little 5 years old. I stood in line and was exited to meet a player that I liked. 4 people away a man had a San Dieago Padres BBQ grill lid with a bunch of signatures on it. This idiot decides to run up after we had been waiting about 20 minutes ao BBQ grill lid guy smacks this guy in the dome with it. Gwynn threw down the pen onto the dirt mid signature for this person and said I'm not signing **** for anyone else. I told this story to Gwynn at a paid signing a few years ago and he said he remembered it. He said he would have signed for everyone in the stadium had that guy not been stupid and that he was sorry about it.

he doesn't have cancer any more. Plus, your belittling him by not thinking he has the power to say "no". So if he signed one item, cancer is no longer the issue ?

He said he would have signed for everyone in the stadium had that guy not been stupid and that he was sorry about it.

and he signed for everybody today !!!

::facepalm:: :benson: What a bonehead.....I can't believe someone do that and ruin it for all you fans. People sure do idiotic things just to try and get an autograph. Recently at the Larry Fitzgerald Assist4Africa celebrity softball game here a older man stood really close and right between me and a friend. My friend was like, "really?" I was gonna say something but figured it didn't matter. Then the older man had the balls to say to a kid, "you really shouldn't be standing on the ledge like that just to get autographs." I wanted to tell the old man off but just bit my lip and smh!
