At least he acknowledges both teams have to deal with it.

Also I remember a BREWERS fan on here a while ago talking about Ben Sheets curveball and how if he pitched during the afternoon, it was unhittable b/c of the shadows.

It's just national news b/c of the Cardinals/Brewers rivalry.

Oh, don't we long for the days of yore when we didn't have to worry about things like artificial lighting?

Good grief, what would baseball players of today do if they had to wear wool jerseys in the summer sun all season?

As far as I'm concerned, the players should file a grievance with the Union for unsafe working conditions. I mean seriously, someone's ego might have easily been hurt.

Tiresome.

Hey douches...you play a silly game for millions of dollars a year. Act like a professional and brush aside this little inconvenience a couple days a year.

I know Albert Pujols is one of the greatest players in the game's history but if I have to watch him admire one of his own homeruns again I think i'm going to go insane.

When baseball basically eliminated the beanball and the brush back pitch, they created this crap.

50 years ago, Pujols would look a bit different, nose a bit flatter, face a bit more scarred and one eye situated a bit lower than the other. A couple fastballs to the head should make you think twice about appreciating your work.

The "old days" of baseball are gone. The game has evolved (along with society), from the strike zones, to the attitude of players, to way the game itself is played, etc. Like it or not, it's here to stay.

With that said, ESPN or some other network should add some sort of "home run trot clock" to their broadcast to see how long it takes players to round the bases after a longball.

Well, I see where the players are coming from. Sometimes you get a heater high and inside, and if you didn't move your head you would have been hit in the face. But you move your head, because you see it coming. When it's coming from the shadows like that, and you can't see it.......

On the other hand, it's a lot like rain. It makes the game more difficult, but both teams are on even ground.

What would be really cool is if some clouds came in, and your team had a big offensive inning, and then the clouds blew out and the shadows went back to messing things up.

I pretty much agree with everything that has been written so far in this thread. Tony is a whiner but not all of his complaints are unfounded. Ryan Braun was saying the same thing about the shadows and I guess the major complaint is that the batters fear for their own safety because they can’t see the ball.

That being said, if keeping Larussa one more year increases the chances of Pujols resigning then I’m all for it. But, I do think it is time for him to move on. I’ll thank him for what he brought to the organization and wish him well.

As far as the Pujols homerun trot I am in complete agreement. It is sad that at some point it became the “norm” for these players to showboat. I blame ESPN more than anybody because they have the platform to admonish these guys and help sway public opinion on this issue and they do the exact opposite. I guess you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube and times have changed but a few good knock down pitches would be nice to see.

Professional sports in an entertainment business. Showboating, smack talk, etc all generate more interest for the sports. With the media today being as it is Baseball has changed forever. Im sure Babe Ruth, Willy Mays, Mantle, and all the greats showboated, there was just no media there to make players look bad, or show replays to the world so everyone can sit and speculate.

And for the title of the post....I think that is highly unlikely

Pujols says at his hitting clinic he NEVER watches a homerun he hits. I have about 50 pictures saved to my computer that I want to show him.

 You make it sound like baseball is nothing more than WWE with maple bats. As for the title your sense of humor must really suck because I got a kick out of it.

I don't like speaking on others' behalf, but I THINK sigma_chi MIGHT have been making a joke and not completely serious.

On a serious note, I truly believe if you collected the blood Carlos Zambrano's tampons, you could extinguish the Texas wildfires in about two hours

Maybe less than that.

Explain how I make the MLB look like the WWE with maple bats? Did I say it was staged or fake or presume you to think I meant that in any way?

Also as to my "highly unlikely" quote, I took that from Dane Cook so I think I have a pretty good sense of humor.

Citing Dane Cook as evidence of a good sense of humor is like citing Chris Benoit as evidence of one's fatherhood skills.
