Very cool patch if it is real and from the actual 2001 season jerseys. I am very skeptic though. I've never seen an O'Neill flag patch before. Have there been other flag patches from this product?

I cannot say either way, but I do know that set has had some incredible patches.

its numbered, so i would believe so; however he could have had a solid patch and put those stars on, but i'm leaning towards real

It could be a reflection or just my eyes, but does the card look wrinkled by the T in STAR?

You 'real' guys make me laugh and are the reason the fake patch industry survives to this day. You can clearly see there are two points of damage on the window around the patch (not that I would have believed this card even with no damage, as 90% of patch fakers leave zero damage in their work).

This is the shadiest hobby in the world, people need to be much, much, more cynical.

Good catch, I totally missed that!

Here is what my PC card from this set looks like...more like a typical Yankee patch.

During the painful event of 9/11 some of the cap or jersey wore had American flag star on it.

Additionally, manufacturers stated that they did NOT cut up flags from jersey to insert into cards. Real flag pieces came 2004 and after or full flag patch cards.

thats a sick patch, one that would be more accurate to a /10 card rather than /50... but thats just talk, the best way to tell is theres damage around where its inserted. It would be nice for a zoom in on that spot.

but I think its fake

Wrong! They all leave their damage and I know this by first hand experience. Some just leave it more obvious than others. Even the good ones leave their marks. You can never tell from a scan you have to acually get the card in hand to be able to see that they tampered with it.

I don't collect GU but from looking at the pic, I would say that it even looks like the patch is too big for the window. What I mean is that the actual patch appears to be bowed or bubbled out in the center. JMO and it could just be a deceiving scan but with the definite damage on the actual card, I would virtually guarantee it's not authentic. List the sellers name so everyone who keeps track of the forgers can put it into their databases.

edit: didn't see that you had the eBay link posted.
