Top 100 baseball players of all time

But what about retired players?

An all time list

That list is from 1998, which explains the omission of quite a few players.

Rickey Henderson #51, well I guess this list does need an update after all. He at least ranks in the top 20.

Most interesting bit here is that Bonds is listed at #34, whereas Ken Griffey Jr. is #93.

And yes, I consider that a huge thing considering Griffey is thought to have been THE hitter of the 90s (along with Frank Thomas) and Bonds is currently perceived to have never been higher than either in the era.

Then again, not giving too much weight to the list,

It's tough when you add pitchers to the mix, and then it's apples and oranges....I hate this list for the simple fact that Ted Williams is #8. That's total bullcrap right there.....my top 5 hitters (in no particular order) would have to be:

-Cobb
-Ruth
-Williams
-Gehrig
-Musial

Would have to add Walter Johnson if we included pitchers

I say he is too. Yes, I'm biased, but he had speed, hit for average, could hit for power, was a good fielder and the only thing he didn't have was a solid arm. Decent, but not the best. The fact that he has 3 all-time records shows that he is a complete player and he wasn't just one-dimensional. Unintentional walks, runs and stolen bases. I don't think he is better than Ruth or Aaron anything like that, but he was in a couple of catogories.
