I posted recently about getting this card:

Ended up sending it in, hoping I would get the same card back without a huge bend through it because I saw this sale
Bryce Harper Jersey Relic 2013 Topps Archives Baseball 1960 Game Used Washington | eBay

Well, I got this in the mail today:
harperfive_zps0fafe5e6.jpg

Harper jersey from 5 star, numbered to /92.

I feel mixed about it. On one hand, a few more of the archives popped up, some still brought over $100 but they have sold for less recently. I am guessing the 5 star wouldn't get close to that right? I thought the policy was that if they did not have the same card to send back they at least ask what you would like in return, at least player wise. I know that I got a comparable replacement on the surface but obviously the Archives card was a lot more desirable. Not happy.

atleast you got the same player from a real set. not like some of those they send that are just made up cards for replacements from no set at all. your lucky.

You have no room to complain about this replacement

Why is that? The letter that accompanied the card says "rest assured that what you are receiving is of equal or higher value of your original card."

Dude I told you to list the card damaged and take what ever you got for it. Like maybe 20-25 bucks since it was from retail anyway.

Should have let someone else deal with Topps. But then you het that card and your are for some reason not really happy.

Well then ok it's your right. Now list that card and get what you can for it like 20-30 bucks which again is the price of a blaster and move on:p:D:confused::eek::rolleyes:

The card you received is #52 /92, and 5+2=7. His jersey number is 34, and 3+4=7!! You've got yourself an eBay 1/1! :)

Seriously though, I think you got a pretty nice numbered card. I'd be happy with the replacement if it were me.

Write Topps a nice note as to why this is not an acceptable replacement and return the 5-Star Jersey.

Topps did replace Harper for Harper which might be the best you could have hoped.

One of the "better" replacements I've seen. That Doc Gooden for Hendrix still blows my mind.

So it seems everyone is just so beat up by Topps and their terrible customer service that it has now become acceptable to take a lesser valued card despite what their own letter states. If they sent him a lesser valued card why does he have "no right to complain"? Just because others have had it worse? They all have a right to complain when Topps fails to deliver the replacement value.

This is one of the most fair replacements I have seen. You sent in a Bryce Harper jersey card, you got back a Bryce Harper jersey card.

That Five Star actually sells for more than the Archives card. Prices have settled in the $50 range...

WHAAAA?!?!

That letter couldn't POSSIBLY say that, as all of us dummys have been told that Topps doesn't make assertions as to the value of their cards.

It's a mystery!

They probably have a set of standards based on player/numbering/set - much akin to Beckett pricing that uses a formula. They 100% do not use eBay value, which -apparently - a lot of people think is the only way for a company to choose "value." No, they are going to go the cheapest way possible, even if that means some arbitrary amount.

Actually , as is being discussed in another thread, the Topps CS reps do reference Beckett PG when you call about a replacement.
