Topps Diamond Codes - used from sealed packs?

Has anybody had this happen to them? I just bought a couple of the sealed 2011 value boxes. I had the 3 codes that were included in each box (all 3 worked.) I also pulled 3 codes from the packs. None of them worked, saying that the codes had already been redeemed. The packs were sealed, the shrink wrap on the boxes was good, and if someone is going to reseal packs and take codes, they are sure going to get the one on the front of the box, and they're not going to leave the other inserts in the packs.

Glad I didn't sell these, but is this a pretty common thing?

The ones on the front of the box have a june expiration date. The ones in the packs have a january expiration date.

The ones that came in the value boxes with the Harper card expire on June 1st. The ones in Topps Update, which is what he pulled from the packs, expired on January 31st (which they extended to Feb 8th or 9th due to the site being down).

That's really ****** that they'd have them expire like that.

It really makes for just 1 more reason that buying update is a losing proposition. Codes lasted about a year for Series 1 & 2 and only what, 4 months for update?

You would expect the Update would be the ones good till June rather than the 2nd series. But I guess that's why Topps is bass ackwards sometimes.
