Sorry if this is annoying but ......Thanks Topps !!!

A few weeks ago I broke a box of Tribute from my LCS and one of my hits was an Orlando Cepeda tribute to the stars sticker auto #'d to 24

Sent card and all the required info to Topps to receive my pack of Bowman Sterling.
Two weeks later received a package from Topps that required my signature and upon opening found they returned my card with a letter informing me that it looks like one or more of the sequentially numbered cards I submitted have already been redeemed for the pack of 2011 Bowman Sterling.

Made a phone call to Topps and was basically told by this employee that this card was redeemed already - when i explained that this card was pulled by me from a sealed box in my LCS with the owner present - they basically told me I was SOL When I asked to speak to a supervisor or such they put me on hold and then hung up.

Yesterday a notice for a certified package from Topps that I wasn't home to sign for was in my mailbox
Went Today to PO and got my package - I opened it up and saw it was a card I had a redemption for a 2011 Finest RC autographed dual relic refractor Eric Hosmer card.
Turned the card over and saw this

Hosmernonautojersey.jpg

How inept are the employees that work at Topps?
I mean someone had to put this card into a sleeve then into a top loader and seal it with a piece of tape
and they never noticed it didn't have an autograph ??

I am so done with this crappy company and their lazy, lethargic, incompetent employees - I just wish a real company would take over with baseball cards that cares enough to concern itself with quality control & customer service.

End of Rant

Maybe they gave you the rare dissapearing ink version?

Sorry. J/K. I'd be pissed too. Honestly though, I don't think they even care as long as people keep busting. As long as that happens, all of a sudden a wax breaker here or there matters very little if at all.

i'm still waiting for a Diamond Dig giveaway 1971 topps jeff torborg card and it's been 4 months. Topps says they have to acquire one in the secondary market to send to me. hasn't happened yet in 4 months. I bet I may never see it since the diamond dig giveaway is ending in a few days.

I'm sorry for the OP; your experience over the phone does not really surprise me though, it's pretty common

Oh, Topps... I keep losing faith little by little, but since they owe me a big chunk of $$/cards...

Actually the card is NOT missing the auto.

It's similar to the "invisible man" auto from allen & ginter. Anyone have a black light?

Normally the "Thanks Topps" type threads annoy the piss out of me. But this one is definitely irritating.

Seems like there are a lot of problems in Topps' "fulfillment department". Employees tracking/entering codes are obviously making errors costing honest customers to be screwed and employees packing cards for shipment should be the last line of defense for receiving a card like the one posted above. These employees are either poorly trained (entry errors), under-trained (don't even know what a finished card should be), or straight up performing poorly and need to be held accountable by their employer like the rest of us. Maybe they are, I don't know but I doubt Topps even knows who handles what so ultimately the department head gets the slack. I wonder if printing out pages upon pages of stories exactly like this that are told every day here and sent in would make the slightest bit of difference.

Maybe if Topps' competitors stepped up their game...oh wait.

This is my thought as well....with no competition Topps has just become a stagnant baseball card company
And as long as people keep busting boxes & cases things will never get any better. Topps keep coming out with $50 - $100 a pack products which are just a joke - you should never be able to pull an autographed card of a player whose rc you can pay $1 for in products like these but it seems to be the norm for the last couple of years. Granted you can pull some nice cards but some of them leave you scratching your head i.e. the guy on BO that pulled the Mantle cut auto from a case where the letter e in Mantle was cut off leaving a Mickey Mantl auto - that is just plain stupid. lazy & inept on Topps part.

Probably worth more anyways as error card.
I wonder how many scam artist sit and try to rip off Topps with stories all the time. Being shorted, missing stuff. When they get a bad box.

If the card were auto'd it would've been a pretty fair/good replacement.

If you think of the hobby as a business you're bound to be disappointed by any issue Topps has like this.

The Hosmer card wasn't a replacement card from Topps - I had redeemed it when I pulled it from a box of finest baseball

I'm disappointed with Topps because their quality control & customer service departments are horrible and they don't seem to be too concerned about it or their customers.

I just received a 1973 Jim Barr from Topps. Came 2 months after I requested and got all my other cards. Why would Topps issue secondary cards they don't currently own and then back order them? Oh right its Topps, the company that just recently printed the last of all the 2011 eTopps cards which were sold back in April of '11.

Not really I've received a couple offers which were less than auto'd version of this card.

I wonder how many scam artist sit and try to rip off Topps with stories all the time. Being shorted, missing stuff. When they get a bad box.

Scam artist ?? Topps made the offer because all the 3 autographed hits in Tribute were to be on card - the tribute to the stars was to be an extra hit but instead took the place of the on card auto. So Topps offered a pack of Bowman Sterling to anyone who pulled a sticker auto from their box. I followed their instructions in returning it back to them only to be told that this particular card had already been redeemed. They refused to believe me & when I asked if it was possible that they had produced 2 cards of this player with the exact number XX/24 they basically told me I was SOL and nice try - when I asked to speak to a his supervisor I was put on hold for about 5 mins and then was disconnected.
