Yesterday I bought two of the $4.97 Topps Heritage Fat Packs.
I wasn't expecting much, maybe a chrome or numbered insert, but I really wanted a space relic.
The first pack had base and a Medal of Honor and Heroes of Sport insert. :?
As I opened the second pack I saw the thick card. I left the card sandwiched between the car just in front and just behind it to build suspense :lol:
I slid the card covering the back of the hit up.
What do I see? in fine print on the bottom it says "The Relic contained in this card in not from any specific game, event, or season"
YES, A Heroes of Sport Relic. I hadn't seen the Checklist yet, but I knew there were Ruth, Gehrig, and Mantle jersey cards in the set.
I turned the card over. Jimmie Foxx bat!
Not bad but it wasn't a Ruth or Gehrig.
I went home and checked out the checklist. Boy was I glad I got Foxx. Some of the worse cards in the set are Dan Marino, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird. Don't get me wrong, those aren't bad players, but they deffinetly wouldn't have excited me knowin most of the other cards in the set are great Baseball players. Here is the Baseball list...
Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth Bat, Babe Ruth Jsy, Mickey Mantle Pants, Johnny Mize, Rogers Hornsby Bat, Jimmie Foxx Bat, Ty Cobb Bat, Lou Gehrig Pants, Frank Robinson Bat.
To me Dan Marino, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, Magic Johnson, Terry Bradshaw, and Larry Bird are just add-ins because topps had their jerseys.
Also, there are two 8 piece heroes of Sport Relics, both 1/1s.
One of them has, M.Mantle/ B.Ruth/ L.Gehrig/ J.Robinson/ H.Wagner/ T.Cobb/ R.Hornsby/ T.Speaker. :shock:
The other has, J.Robninson/ B.Ruth/ M.Mantle/ J.Brown/ D.Marino/ B.Russell/ M.Johnson/ L.Bird :?
