Hey guys, I can't believe how much discussion my card has brought up ;) With the jersey being only "team issued", what is the realistic value on the card? I was offered $170 and am considering taking it by tomorrow if nothing else comes in.

its one of those worth what someone will pay cards but i would ask $200. The quicker to the products release the better when selling a card like this.

Thanks for the clarifaction on what "team issued" means as far as the MLB is concerned. Its great to continue to learn more about the hobby. I know in other sports like NHL, "team issued" or " player issued" usually just means it was made for that particular players exact specifications, but wasn't actually game worn. I know on the site that sells Raiders NFL gamers, player issued jerseys sell for about 15%-20% or less of an actual game worn jersey.

I love authentic, game-used memorabilia cards! I like the fact that when a player retires, there can be no more "game-used" memorabilia by him. He can sign autographs until the day he dies, so I will continue to buy authentic, game-used memorabilia cards as long a I want. I just won't be buying them from Topps, Panini or upper deck.

I buy from the industry leader when it comes to authentic, game-used memorabilia...Dr. Price.

Game used has been around for so long and is so prevalent that what specific 3 hours of a player's life they spent wearing the item doesn't much matter to me (especially modern players). Great card, cool design. Just really nice and if I collected him I'd want it. I'm actually pretty pleased they are matching up the correct player with the correct jersey haha

That definition still holds for MLB - it is just so apparent that some jerseys, and equipment might not reach MLB Authentication; and must, by default, be labeled as "team-issued" for technicalities' ambiguity sake.

Not sure how anyone can be satisfied on a technicality, since there would be no practical way to photo-match this. I know players can be issued equipment lots on the same day - who is to say Jacoby wore another in that lot, and not this patch?

I think it's kind of a silly discussion. It used to make sense... what would happen if everybody found out all the GU cards aren't real? zOMG!!!1! Hobby crash!?!?

Then they started releasing blatantly fake GU items. Manufactured patches, hat pieces, glove pieces, logomen, bat barells... they sold like hot cakes. If one of those has a "1/1" on it, it's going to go for way more than a regular old legitimate GU card.

And it would never come out that ALL of the jerseys used were fakes... of course some of the jerseys are real, and there's a chance that yours could be one of them. After you're done feeling good about that, you can grab a Beckett and see how valuable it is!

Great commercial bro. Sometimes, the authenticity of an item simply can not outweigh its unattractiveness. Would I rather have a cool card where there's a 90% chance the jersey is real, or an ugly card with a 100% real jersey? Give me pretty cards every time.

This isn't the player I collect:

I understand why some people are willing to sacrifice "authentic" and "game-used" for an aesthetically pleasing card, but I'm not one of them. Aesthetically pleasing cards will forever be able to be made. Authentic, game-used cards of specific players will not. Once those guys are done playing, they won't be making any more of those specific "authentic" jerseys. Autos...yes. Different looking cards...yes. Game-used jerseys...no.

I don't collect cardboard. I collect quality cardboard from a specific, reputable company. :)

I'm glad someone posted the link to the MLB authentication. Just picked this up and I'm pleased to see the code matches up 100% with the player and the game.
