Some of you are frequent flyers when it comes to dealing with Topps and redemptions but I only deal (or mostly deal) with Albert Belle cards, so thank god my dealings with redemptions are few and far between.

Anyways, I thought I'd make a thread and notify everyone of something I discovered this morning after waiting on hold for 40 minutes with Topps. I called regarding a card I was waiting over a year for (nearly two years actually) and it was marked "shipped" but the tracking number was invalid and I hadn't seen the card in two weeks.

Here you go...

IF you move after you have already redeemed a redemption code BUT before you have received the card, you HAVE to call Topps and notify them of your address change or the card will go to your old address. This is EVEN if you change it on their website to your new address.

What the rep told me is their system does not have the capability to update addresses once the code has been entered. This seems like a complete mess if you ask me but I don't have to deal with redemptions that often, so I'll wait for my last redemption to arrive and hopefully will never have to deal with their crappy system again.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding my call, experience, etc. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has moved while waiting for a redemption to be filled/shipped.

Yea, their hold music isn't the best... plus is LOUD... I had it on the lowest it would go at the office and it was so loud.

Dang! I am planning to move this summer and I have a bunch of pending items...some nice stuff too.

THANK YOU for the heads up! I was thinking I just had to update the system. I should have known better.

You're welcome. Their system is clearly jacked up! When asked, she said she wasn't sure how people should know to call and not just update the site ::facepalm::

This problem came up last year when I redeemed a pretty valuable card and did not change my address over the phone. The whole system is misleading....you should be able to change your address online. Luckily I got the card because Topps requires signatures for their more valuable cards. However, I did lose one no-name prospect auto because of the address change. Annoying experience for sure.

They have it at the top of their redemption page...."Hi collectors! Please note: If you change your mailing address on your redemption account, you must contact us to ensure that your previously entered redemptions get sent to the correct place. Please call us toll-free Monday-Friday at (800)-489-9149. Our office hours are 9:00 am-4:30 pm EST.

Thank you! "

Probably added today ;)

Even if it was there........ what a F'ed up system.......... how can you not just have a system that when the card is filled and ready to be shipped, they reference the persons account for the address current? Doesn't seem like a tough system to put in place.... besides, I waited for 40 minutes today! They should have it read:

"Hi collectors! Please note: If you change your mailing address on your redemption account, you must contact us to ensure that your previously entered redemptions get sent to the correct place. We are incapable of keeping track of all this on our own and are not responsible for our own redemptions being fulfilled properly. Please call us toll-free Monday-Friday at (800)-489-9149. Please ensure you have at least 1 hour free before calling because our average wait time is 45 minutes. Our office hours are 9:00 am-4:30 pm EST.

Thank you!"

I just sell any Topps redemption cards I pull at this point, and simply don't buy them even for PC guys.

Same here.
I have one more outstanding and I'm done.

Honest am going this route as well. No use. I'd rather skip keeping my funds tied up in a hope and a wish... skip the chances it doesn't get filled.... skip the chances the card isn't all what I had hoped when I paid top dollar. Forget it.

Just as an update...

I called Topps back because they never contacted me like they said they would.... This time I waited on hold for over an hour... when I finally spoke with a rep, she told me my card has already shipped on the 19th and she has no idea where it is because the tracking number isn't working! She said the post office doesn't always scan each package when they ship a huge shipment in bulk?! Anyways, they are trying to figure out where the package is... it was sent to my old address but I called there and they have no record of it...

Long story short... I'm never buying a redemption again from Topps... this is a disaster and I can't believe they are able to be so lazy when it comes to them fulfilling their IOU to me!

One of the funny parts to the story (I won't say the ladies name) is I told the lady she must just be tired of her job having to deal with issue after issue after issue all day long with redemptions and she started laughing and said she is almost at the end of the line because she can't take it any longer. She says it's non-stop all day long dealing with redemption issues, problems, people pissed, etc. She said it's a sh!t show over there.

Last update... I called the post office myself this morning and acted as though I still live at my old place and THEY HAVE IT! I need to rush down there on lunch today to try and snag it before something stupid happens with Topps and maybe telling them to return it or something stupid. God.
