Seriously though, I don't see the redemptions themselves being the issue, but rather the way Topps goes about issuing them/redeeming them/etc. It's a great business method for all parties involved WHEN DONE PROPERLY. It just seems Topps has yet to work the kinks out of their system...

This is exactly right. Redemptions are not the problem, Topps inability to properly run a redemption program and their overall complete incompetance are the problems.

Just attempted two of my redemption codes for Museum again, and they still are not working. I was told on Monday April 9th that they would be in the system by the end of the day on Wednesday April 11th. So I waited until Friday April 13th, they still did not work. Now I am waiting for 8:30 to come up so I can call them (again) and see what the reason for the hold up is.

I agree 100%. It was the same situation with Upper Deck. The redemption part didn't bother me, it was the waiting and having to contact them over and over again with always the same poor response. At least with Topps though I have not came across a redemption that was never fulfilled and at the end of the day find out that the card was never manufactured.

I am waiting on my 2011 bowman platinum triple auto of Heyward/Stanton/Brown. I wanted it for my pc or else I would have sold it.

Another thing I didn't like about Topps redemptions was when they started creating plain text on a crooked label redemption cards. I remember last year trying to sell a few on Feebay and people asking if I had faked them.

I have several redemptions that I recently scratched off and none of them state as card exists. Get going Topps, do not put redemptions in products #1 that cannot be redeemed when product hits store shelves and #2 do not make redemptions of JERSEY or BAT CARDS.

THANKS TOPPS!!!!!!
I've had rants on this before but redemptions will ruin the hobby eventually IMO. Unless it is something they just simply don't want to include in packs because of value, pack searchers, etc. (I get that) but otherwise, redemptions are just Topps being way out infront of themselves and eventually the hobby will be producing at a rate they can't catch up with themselves.

Hearing stories of people waiting for redemptions for more than 1 year?!?! Really!??! Then codes not even working?!?! Sorry but I just saw a non-serial numbered on-card auto of Albert Belle redemption for the new Topps Gypsy Queen and I just shake my head. I'll put it simply, if Topps can't get a card for a particular release, then don't include it in the product or wait to release the product at a later date. Simple memo or auto cards should not be redemptions!

THANKS TOPPS!!!

I've probably shared this unfortunate story before but I doubt it can be beat.

In 2001 I bought 1 pack of 2001 Topps Tribute. Pulled a Ted Williams buyback redemption card. It was an enormous card at the time. The redemtions were selling for $400 plus on eBay and had to have been extremely limited given the price point of the product ($50/pack) and the odds stated. I waited months and finally recieved my card from Topps.....

..I was literally sick to my stomach, literally.

wow, what a steel-toed kick in the junk. That's awful. Since this is the first time I've heard this particular story, did Topps come even close to making you whole?

No....but to be fair, I wrote several letters to Topps but never had the heart to send even one. I was so mad that I basically left the hobby until 2005/2006.

I was crushed. I dreamed that it would be a signed 1954 Topps or even a PSA 8 1954 Bowman. Nope, not even a card that features him in his Boston uniform.

The Topps redemption site is now recognizing the redemption codes for Museum Collection and not stating 'invaid code' or 'please wait while we sit around and not get this taken care of sooner'

I don't see that solving anything. If that happens, then people are going to be upset because "I preordered this product and now x number of players that I wanted aren't in it anymore" or "I've got $*** sunk into the preorder for this and now I'm not going to get it for another month because they're waiting on _____________ to sign his cards and send them back to Topps." Neither of those situations are good for either party. I'd rather wait a year for a card I really want than never have the chance to get it. Maybe that's just me.

Yay, both of my Al Kaline Silver Rainbow Jumbos went through. Cannot wait. Still do not like the process of jersey redemptions.

Both topps and panini have CS reps on twitter and from what I have seen they sometimes answer questions. You all might want to try that.

In order for someone to use this word here and have some credibility on the issue, one just HAS to know how to spell it, LOL.

If I were the one handing out licensing for Major League cards, I would insist that all cards that are included in the print run and/or stated as part of the product be live in hand and packed out. With the exception of *bonus materials not included in any set/subset/parallel or stated checklist. This whole redemption process has turned in to a scam. Who keeps these companies in check from over ambitiously pre-selling a product by touting cards they do not have, nor have any real chance at getting? How many times have you had to 'settle' for something other than what you redeemed because 'it was not made"? This is why I would never buy a redemption and sell them as fast as I can pull them. Redemptions are not bonus cards that add value, they are an IOU for something that should have been there in the first place lowering the value by waisting your time.
