Heres the twitter response

"99+% cards placed in product, few randomcards held to cover NPN & replace damaged cards, all go to collectors"

Topps finally provides great customer service and then some and everyone finds a way to find fault.
I would just be happy I got such a nice card in return, can't imagine my luck being so good.

I can understand the hatred for not packing out the Harper but had the Trout been replaced with something less valuable Topps would be villainized for horrible service.

I am not a fan of Topps. Due to this bullXXXX monopoly, they are the only licensed game in town. Your post is spot on. Topps is screwed no matter what. Had they sent something like a Angel Pagan auto or patch /5, people would rip them to shreds. Instead, they send a prospectors chase card and go above and beyond on a replacement and people are still ripping them to shreds.

The only positive I guess is that Topps makes BC which gives them a pass to many on this board. Had this been an Upper Deck thing, people would want to march across the country with pitchforks in hand.

Well, how hard is it to replace with card of equal value? Topps has internet. Topps can look at Ebay. Topps can do 5 minutes of research and find a card of equal value. Yeah, they are being ripped b/c of this debacle. And yeah, they would have been ripped if they had sent a piece of crap card as a replacement. Guess when they wouldn't be ripped? If they did the right thing and sent a card equivalent to the Trout. In other words, they wouldn't be ripped a new one if they DID THE RIGHT, LOGICAL, COMMON SENSE THING.

Why didn't they just fix the card? Didn't seem like it was substantial damage seems like it would have cost them less to fix it, then give up a $700-$1000 card that could've replaced another high end bowman card that was damaged.

Translated for those of you that arnt dat smart:

"We are topps and we can do what we want. We hold out great cards all the time and you can't do squat about it, except buy more of it."

LOL @ random

Topps is playing us as fools. Too bad the twitter guy doesn't have the balls to tell us who he is.

Has anyone considered that the Harper Auto was initially held back in case one of the other 5 Harpers were damaged? This was the marquee card upon release and would be disaster if it could not be appropriately replaced. Once no one claimed the need for the Harper auto they found it best to use it as a replacement for another big hit and get the Harper into circulation.

If they're going to save one for replacement purposes for that exact card then why not print an extra and leave it unnumbered then when the damaged red Harper gets sent in for replacement then shred that one and stamp the unnumbered one and ship out.

That way all cards get inserted into product

They once did this; most companies did.......see the 90s thread and all of the backdoored cards.

They can't print one extra of every card just in case something happens to any card...

This is an excellent point.
