i liked it only because i did VERY well. that being said all the hits combined(not just mine) will probably only recoup 60% of the case cost & thats being generous. i opened 3 boxes on my own & got reamed. i think its worth 60ish a box, maybe 75.
personally i like the base cards & i love the unique unis insert set

i love it

the knobs (teehee), mlb logo patch and laundry tags all look fantastic

of course, we could def. go without those stupid president bat barrel cards. ew

as for the base? i like em except those red ones per pack. i like the fact that the rc's are #ed as well making the base set that much more harder to assemble at the end

im hopeful that i can finally pick up my 1st knob card from unique

so far, this is the only completed card that has approached case price territory.

I can't believe some of those idiotic button cards are selling as high as they are.

Keep in mind that the buttons and majestic patches have actually been removed from the jersey and glued to some dark grey piece of card board.

Of course you would...meanwhile I have a Helton patch coming my way for about $97
lolwut?

I'm assuming you were in the group break?

Both group breaks :(

I had the Rockies in the one you could pick and I drew the White Sox in the other one....I like the Helton, but how bad is it that I'm really hoping for a Beckham RC from the White Sox box.

Really? Wanna try again!?

and about the sell value,
Nowadays you have to sell everything to get your money back and make a profit..
(In 2002 yes, you can sell 3 jersey cards and make your case price back..)
But this is one product that has lots more sell value than a lot of UD products..

Here is a breakdown of what you get in Unique..
6 base sets - $120.00 (Could make more if sold singles) ;)
120 rookies - $300 (Avg of $2.50 each)
100 inserts - $300
220 Red Parallel cards $220
20 Bronze, Gold Parallels $50-$100
30 Memorabilia cards avg at $15.00 each is $450.00

But everyone just throws the lot on ebay and basically don't care what they get because its more than they would get if it sat in their closet!

I wish they had more products like this !!!

Here are my thoughts on the set:

- The base cards are actually nice in person. Very clean with a a good, large photo of each player.

- The basic gu, like in EVERY product now, don't bring in much $$$. You should just be happy to pull a good player.

- The basic autos are pretty solid if you look at who is getting pulled. A few duds, but for the most part, a lit of players who are pretty important to their teams. This is better then them putting no name rookies in this product.

- The patches are one per box, but a lot of them are single color. But from what I have noticed, they also serve as decoys for the boxes with the thick case hits.

- The GU cards, especially the patches and case hits, have a lot of players on their old teams, but from what I can tell, the picture on the card is a fair representation of where the memorabilia is coming from (I have only seen one player, Barry Zito, that did not match). People complain when they use old jerseys with a new picture, so they change it up a little and match the picture and GU piece and people STILL whine and bitch. Make. up. your. minds! Topps is a business, and therefore will not throw away GU pieces from old jersey. At least they are making most of these card "match up" as much as possible.

-President plates....REALLY stupid. All non sports need to be taken out of sports cards at this point IMO. There are enough non sports set being made that there is a place for them to be inserted.

- The case hits. If someone was to open up say three boxes of Premier or 4 boxes of Triple threads and pull a logoman, button, or bat barrel, people would say it is a good break. So why are they complaining now? Only because is it practically guaranteed per case? The appeal of the product is that you can pull this stuff more easily. Not Topps fault that your Boof Bonser logoman does not sell as well as Ichiro or A-Rod. Just depends how lucky you are in which players you pull.

- Players having more then one 1/1 in the logo or bat knob sets. I don't mind that my put multiple bigger hits or the bigger players. A Pujols logoman is still going to sell well, at the most you get $900 instead of $1000 for a 1/1 logoman the second time it sells. It is still a freakin awesome card. Just now this way more then one person gets a chance. While the player collector might like having the only one, this at least gives a few other people the chance to own one. The only thing that bugs me about it is that they used the same picture on each card. If you have 7 1/1s, at least make them a little different to make them (kinda) a 1/1.

So from the POV of someone who is not tainted by resale value, this product is actually pretty damn fun. Pretty good player in every box with a good chance to pull some "Unique" cards. But like every new set, most people whine and complain about it until the next one comes out.

Beware Tribute and Sterling when you come to the boards, YOU WILL NOT BE WELCOME!

The price-point for what you get is pretty bad IMO. There have been and are PLENTY of 2-GU/1-Auto boxes that aren't 50% of this product. I feel bad for anyone who bought this product at current prices; I think it's going to drop HARD...

I hope so, I would love to bust these at the multi-case level if they drop like people say it will.

The jumbo jersey cards are a patch fakers dream. They should just do away with plain jersey pieces of that size and have them reserved for patches only. Which they will end up being once a certain POS from NC gets some.

everyone hates on burge like he is some sort of serial killer, he fakes cards get over it

He is some sort of serial killer...he butcher's those poor, innocent, & helpless card's...They never did anything to him! I say he's material for Public Enemy #1!!!!

(Miggy you are on a sportscard board, someone who has a past history like that of burge is the closest these board's should get to talking about a serial killer....And for anyone who didn't catch it above, I was being sarcastic- I know I shouldn't have to type that but if I didn't the next post would be calling me out for comparing Burge to a serial killer, so I figured I might as well make note of my sarcasm before someone goes there!) :D
