As a Mariners fan, I just hope we don't end up sending some good prospects away fro something that won't happen in the long.

Although, if I had to buyer I wonder what it would cost to get Soriano from the Cubs. It is a total pipe dream, and just a wish of a lifelong fan of his. Is there any way they would be willing to take Figgins or Kenedy if we threw in a mid-tier prospect (I'd be willing to give up Liddi, Paxton, Peguero, Halman) basically anybody except Franklin or Walker.

Wonder what Orlando Cabrera would cost ? Indians could part with him and the Brewers could use him.

While I agree the Brewers could definitely use him it looks as though, at least by today's developments, that the Indians will be buyers and not sellers. I realize that doesn't mean they won't deal Cabrera, but you'd think they would use the depth.

I would be shocked if the Indians DIDN'T try to move O-Cab before the trade deadline, because they have Jason Kipnis screaming for a promotion in AAA. Apparently, when the Tribe called up Cord Phelps last month to take over 2nd base, O-Cab pouted about losing his starting role as well as having to play 3rd base. Cabrera did end up getting his job back, but Kipnis is a superior offensive weapon. Of course, any trade scenarios involving Orlando are contingent upon Kipnis remaining with the team and not being traded for an outfielder or starting pitcher.

The Braves should just take anything for Derek Lowe.It solves a ton of problems for the Braves and would free up around 6 million this this year and another 15M next year. Use the money saved for Jurrjens two year extension. Pretty sure a combination of Minor and Teheran would equal anything Lowe does in the 2nd half.

I'd send Bailey, Leake, Volquez, Alonso, Gomes, and Lewis to Colorado for Jimenez. Nothing against Gomes or Lewis, neither should be in the line up unless Heisey is injured though.

ESPN Insider states the Reds would offer up Travis Wood, Edinson Volquez, and Yonder Alonso for Ubaldo Jimenez.

They also said that Alonso for Brandon League could be a possibility if it is offered.

I'd rather keep Wood and move Bailey. However, if we could get Jimenez for Wood, Volquez, and Alonso, I'd be more than happy to pack Volquez' **** up myself.

Why would Seattle trade prospects or trade for Soriano? They're a game and a half out of LAST place. Usually, a team in Seattle's situation are sellers and looking to trade their major league ready talent to a contender to shed salary and restock the farm. Trading prospects (unless they are lower level "throw ins") wouldn't make any sense. Neither would trading for a higher priced veteran like Soriano.

Actually, with all that being said, it would be comical if Seattle (9 under .500) and Chicago (20 under .500) traded with each other.

I wouldn't be surprised if Giants reeled in either All star Hunter Pence or strongly talked about Carlos Beltran. They both are the kind of bat that would tremendously help out the offense as Pablo and Nate can't do it themselves. IF we are having this kind of success now, a bat of their caliber will def be most helpful

If the Rockies pull the trigger on something like that I may throw my television, computer, and anything else I can grab out the window. While I do believe that Volquez has good stuff, I think there may always be enough durability and command issues to where he is a back of the rotation guy forever. I don't see Wood ever being more than a 4. While Alonso would be a nice bat at first, I don't think that he's enough of a centerpiece to move Ubaldo.

Not to mention Volquez is almost a year older than Ubaldo.

I am excited to see what kind of haul Houston can get.
Everyone except Jordan Lyles and a couple other guys is on the block and we're ready to start dealing.

Wandy Rodriguez and Hunter Pence should land several top prospects, and guys like Brett Myers and Jeff Keppinger could land a prospect or two. If we eat some of Carlos Lee's contract, he could even net us a prospect (or a bag of baseballs). By the time we clean house, we could land 7-10 top prospects.

Would the Astros be interested in something around Jonathan Sanchez?

Do you think Sanchez, Francisco Peguero + PTBNL would be enough for Pence?
