Speaking of rentals, if the rays start to falter, you think Crawford would be traded away with Desmond Jennings coming up?

Would LOVE for the Giants to somehow make a trade for crawford. Maybe Trade Thomas Neal and Tommy Joseph (catcher with power) and a mid level pitching prospect or the player the rangers owe us.

Crawford would fit in really well in San Fran! and I think that is a fair deal for the Rays seeing as CC will be a free agent after the season... and ofcourse they have Desmond waiting in the wings.

EDIT: I can understand the Rays moving BJ before CC though.

2 things:

1) This isn't a Giants thread, start a new one.

2) To nicely answer your question: no. If anyone is moved, it will be BJ. I am willing to bet a ludicrous amount of money Crawford signs a contract with the Rays in the off season.
Won't both Lee and Crawford want huge contracts aka Yankee territory?

Jeez! :o if the Yankees sign those two then it should just be YANKEES VS. OTHER ALL STARS. lol

seriously. LOL 3 of their starting pithers are all stars. Imagine Lee in there too.

1. CC
2. Lee
3. Hughes
4. Pettite
5. Burnet

1-4 AS.

I think it'd be awfully tough for the Twins to part with Baker. I could see Ramos, Revere and Bromberg for Lee.

I cannot see the Twins parting with more then 1 of their top 3 prospects (ramos, hicks, gibson). Offer up 1 of those plus a couple other mid to lower end (ex:perkins).

Ramos blocked by Mauer. Hicks is expendable with Revere and already set outfield, especially with Delmon Young having a solid year. IF Lee goes to the Twins they will seperate themselves in the central and will compete with the yankees in the post season.

Re: Cliff Lee to the Twins? Who would the prospects be?

The Mariners are not likely to move Lee without an "impact bat" prospect who can help the team win in the next 1-2 years and beyond. I don't see the M's moving Lee to the Twins without both Hicks and Ramos (Revere? Pass), and they'll probably shop around using those names as a comp for a better deal. While Ramos is MLB ready, he's far from the top-tier hitter they are looking for and Hicks has great tools but he's a long way off.

One thing appears very evident: some team is going to overpay in prospects for Lee. Rumors have swirled that the Cards offered up top prospect Shelby Miller. The Rangers want Lee bad but they'll really have to overpay (Justin Smoak?!) because they'll want salary relief and they're in our division. The Yanks remain interested but would they pull the trigger on Jesus for a rental? The Mets are trying to build packages around Flores or Mejia but once again those guys are a few years away from helping the big league club. Jack Z still man-crushes on Lawrie so the Brew crew could be in the mix as well. And then, of course, there are the Phillies, who gave Cliff up for a couple of project prospects and some coupons for free garlic fries at Safeco. But I'm sure every conversation with them starts and ends with Domonic Brown, who the Phils would be INSANE to deal right now. *(Editorial wish: please be insane!)

Lots of contending teams think Lee could put them over the top, and he very well could. All I know is being a Mariner fan AND a prospector I am extremely entertained by all the interest.

Ramos and Hicks is a great start and would be a nice haul in most circumstances, but the M's have a chance to do even better. However, I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if those are the guys we end up getting.

Ramos, Gibson, and Benson will be the package along with Lee and a reliever.

You must be high. What is this based on?

I don't think he's a power bat by any means but the kid can rake.

Re: Cliff Lee to the Twins? Who would the prospects be?

a lot of teams are interested, so they are going to hold off Lee until somoene gives them the big stash.
in tern that team is really going to try to sign him to a fat deal before free agency. hes a rental, but they all are going to try to stop that.

lets remember when the mariners traded Randy Johnson. they scored Guillen, Halama, and Garcia. Halama was a decent role player, Garcia was an ace and Guillen became and Allstar but only after leaving Safeco. the biggest plus of that trade was that King Felix favorite player was Garcia, so he wanted his family to talk to the Mariners. so the Ms are going to still be scoring from that trade for years to come.
and the Astros? Johnson ended up being a good rental but the rest of the team folded. they lost 2 allstars that could have really helped the team down the road.

There is no way the Twins would trade Ramos AND Gibson for a rental in Lee. I think the only reason they would consider it would be if they could sign him, and since they can't, then guess again.

To seriously try to separate from the Tigers (well, okay catch up, then pass them first) the Twins have to get Lee. Twins starting pitching already has shown it is not going to last down the stretch like it will need to. I could lose Ramos, and Revere. I would like to keep Hicks if possible. I don't think it will involve anybody on the current 25-man roster. Gibson isn't going anywhere. But however it works, it has to get done.

If I were the Twins, I wouldn't give up much. They have to know Lee is going to walk after this year.

If they want Brandon League in the package they would have to give that up.

Since they need a reliever I don't see why they don't just DFA Jesse Crain or send down Danny Valencia since he's not playing every day and bring up Anthony Slama or Kyle Waldrop. That's what I would do but then again I'm not Bill Smith or Gardenhire so idk what they'll end up doing, all I know is that I really want Lee, but I wouldn't trade 2 of our top 3 prospects for him. That's all I'm saying.

I wouldn't give up Gibson for anything right now (unless it was absolutely overwhelming).

If the Twins are so desperate for BP help, which they are, try to acquire Sean Gahallager f/S.D. Just make sure to cut the cord on Crain.

Didn't see anything posted on the first 2 pages, I'll re-look and remove this if I find a thread.

So I guess the Twins offered Seattle Wilson Ramos, and Aaron Hicks for Lee. Thoughts? Heard it on the Final Score, so don't know if it happened or supposedly happened
