Tyler Seguin of the Ontario Hockey League's Plymouth Whalers is the No. 1 prospect for the 2010 Entry Draft in rankings released by NHL Central Scouting Wednesday. Seguin earned the nod over Taylor Hall of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires.

Edmonton should end up with one of the top 2 picks (fingers crossed), so they will have a future franchise player to start rebuilding around. A couple more losing seasons by the Oilers and they could become the new Pittsburgh Penguins or Chicago Blackhawks, as being a team that became a powerhouse by collecting high first rounders. The Oil also have Jordan Eberle coming next year, so at least they have something to look forward too.

One of the other top picks could very well go to the Boston Bruins, a team that is gonna be in the playoffs but owns Toronto's #1 pick this year from the Phil Kessel trade. I bet the Leafs fans are going to be kicking themselves if Boston does infact end up with either Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin.

Hall and Seguin are both tabbed as "Can't miss" prospects and future franchise players, the same way as recent top picks like Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin, Stamkos and John Tavares were, prior to them being drafted. Next year will also be an amazing year for hockey cards as well if both Tyler and Taylor make debuts next season and earn themselves rookie cards in the 2010/11 sets. Im excited for the NHL draft already!! :D :D :D

Edmonton will have a tough choice in deciding who to pick. hopefully it doesn't turn into a Ryan Leaf/Peyton Manning type situation and they both are great NHL'ers.

You know, from a B's perspective, I like the idea of taking Hall (assuming they get #2). I think the B's are pretty solid in Centers and have a couple "waiting" in Providence. Get a good Winger who can score...I like it.

Regardless of whether it's Edmonton-Boston or vice versa picking 1-2 I think we'll see Edmonton going Seguin and Boston going Hall. Boston needs the winger and Edmonton needs a #1 center.

I'm just praying that the Bruins become relevant in this town beyond the Sports Hub.

I'm actually still OK with the Leafs trade for Kessel. He scored 30 goals this year (or damn close, I can't check the stats right now), and they have him signed long term. Boston is going to get a couple of amazing prospects out of the trade (hopefully the one next year is a bit lower), but the Leafs got a proven NHL scorer, who is only 3 years older than Taylor Hall.

As for the rankings, Hall is a good player, but he was too good to be playing in the OHL this year, and I think he has regressed a bit. He tries to do too much, and when he tries to toe drag with his head down in the NHL, someone is going to hit him into next week.

Seguin is a bit better player right now, simply because he hasn't had the opportunity to become lazy.

This. They need an impact winger. Everything I'd read about Hall had him being the guy.
But, it's Boston. Somehow they'll get the 3rd pick. Just because (remember Oden/Durant, Boston fans?).

What would be worse?

Getting the 3rd pick...or getting the 1st pick and taking Oden over Durant???

In my fantasy world, they would have been smart enough to take Durant, haha.
But blowing that #1 would be worse. I'm told Cam Fowler isn't bad at #3, just not the winger they need.

Is wouldn't be all that bad even getting #3...Cam is also Very Nasty.
Either way..the top 3 players could all help the B's in one way or another.
