the memphis ones are weird because they're all white and a bit bland. but I'm guessing NT is gonna establish itself as the "exquisite" of this year, and wax is gonna dry up, and push all the prices of the RCs up.

That list looks just about spot on to me.
Probably all the one's I'd go with.

Topps Chrome may be one to keep an eye on as well.

I agree on the aesthetic thing. I wasn't a big fan of the generic looking no-logo Topps rookie cards.

Could be wrong on this - but I do remember them selling well though. Maybe they cooled down, but I know the refractors were hot cards for a while. Even if they are ugly - I think people still value the "chrome" brand - so the entire set could end up raising in value - especially since there are so few "base" rc's that Panini produced. Plus the Chrome were one per jumbo pack, so it's not like you can go out and buy a box of Topps Chrome 09/10.

Then again the future value thing is just speculation on my part......I do agree they are rather ugly.

I can't speak on if they sold well, as im collecting hoops for the first time since 1991 (not kidding)

But i will say that it takes a lot for me to not collect a topps base issue. As if it isn't known, i am a huge tops base fan :)

Didn't the chrome sell well because there wasn't an official chrome release? I thought the chrome parallels were inserted into the base topps set to get them out quick before the new licensing rules. That made them pretty rare, especially the refractors.

For around $50 I really like these:

Interesting to see the price difference between Contenders and Crown Royale with that info. CR is numbered to 399, so 100 less than the stated print run of Contenders. Both are on card autos, but Contenders appears to have signatures that are a little bubbled or smudged. I could see people choosing either design over the other though.

I think brand recognition (from football) has the most to do with the price. As far as buying low, I like his Elite autos for this price:
