beckett is so freaking awesome that they can price cards not even in existence!

Thats bull because Beckett fails to price cards that DO exist. I'm sure they aren't going out of their way anytime soon.

Well don't tell that to UD. It may really screw up their sense of the world.

While the pricing department handles this stuff, I figured I'd reply here anyway. (I'm more than a little surprised you guys don't know or understand this...)

The price that Beckett publishes is for the redemption card -- which is the same for any of the bugs on the checklist.

Beckett routinely prices redemption cards because the redemptions do get bought and sold -- just like standard cards.

As you can see on the screenshot, it should be clear that the redemptions are what's priced. Obviously, once actual cards would arrive and premiums paid for different ones or rarer ones, the values would fluctuate more. And obviously the ones that are less appealing or more plentiful would be more likely to sell for less than the redemption.

:grouphug:

Exactly. Which is why I do not want my card replaced price wise based on a redemption card. Apparently UD thinks redmptions are worth what the actual card in hand would be worth which is no where near true. Trust me...we understand. They are comparing the value of a card they may have in stock which is actually made to the value of a card not even made. And based on Beckett pricing. Want a clue? Stop pricing cards that don't exist based on redemption sales UD. Please. For the love of Christ. And...beckett...stop pricing the redmeptions. Please. Most remdemptions from UD are bought or sold with the real knowledge that the card may never be made. Hence why some may go for more or less. With a normal company...if you priced a redemption...you'd be pricing the interest in the card. With UD...your pricing a pipe dream.

I love all the fools who reached and bought these for 120+. The card books 100 bucks, which means
UD can send you 2 30 dollar game used cards and one 30 dollar autograph card and call it a day. The
products only selling point was these insects and UD had no real clue on just how much these cards
would cost, they probably figured out they would sell out of Goodwin, but it was a dog for most and Im
sure they are sitting on cases and cases...actually they are probably ripping them open right now pulling
all those 20 and 30 dollar GU pieces to offer as replacments.

The funny thing is that UD doesn't even have to make these cards, they have covered themselves on the
redemption card saying they can offer a suitable replacment. Time to grab your ankles again!

Kevin

You know...one day ...some big time collector with a lot of money is going to get pissed off enough to take them to court over this. On the grounds that the repalcement was not exactly suitable. And I could totally see them having a good case for it.

No they're from 2009 UD Goodwin Champions, kinda like Allen&Ginter muti sport and americana type stuff( I think there was a piece of White House desk memorabilia sp/5 or something weird like that, Tiger Woods shirt card, etc., alot of SP autographs like Goudey had. I have 2 bug cards coming and if they're made we predicted at the card shop that I'll get 2 of the same bug!

I find this very entertaining.

Chris Olds had a post on Beckett where he said basically to ask him anything about cards, their site, or whatever. He proceeded to basically answer 2/3 of the questions with "that's not my department."

Not surprisingly, most questions were about their OPG and listings. He stated everytime that it wasn't his department and to email someone else. Now he's on here with OPG screenshots and describing their pricing practices.

Wonder what kind of prices these cards will fetch when they do hit the market and are in collectors paws.

It is too bad that Olds has to come here to address this, in the old days this would of been on beckett's message
boards, but those days are over, along with beckett and their prices. UD can do whatever they want, beckett's
"pricing" has already cemented in that UD only needs to offer 100 in trade for these cards, and keep in mind
UD never replaces one card for one card, you can expect 50-60 BV in GU cards. Collectors have only one thing
going for them, that these were high profile cards and that UD really can't just say we aren't going to make these,
they realize the more they wait the more collectors holding these redemptions will ask for replacments and
that lets UD off the hook. Its just like etopps, in the beginning they made 1000 of each card and then placed
orders, if they sold just 400 they had to burn 600 of them, now they wait and see what they sell and then make
them. Heck of a deal only having to make what you sell. They did the same thing with high end autographs
like MJ, make them all redemptions and then you only have to make what people turned in before the expiration
date.

If you want something done you have to press the issue. Call and write every day, don't be afraid to bug them! LOL

Don't forget to include in that 2/3's the questions he flat out ignored and didn't respond to in any way whatsoever. I don't even know why that thread exists. I suggested to him one time to reword the initial post so that people would know EXACTLY what kinds of questions he could answer. All that happened was my post was deleted and he left the original wording in.

Never mind the 2 1/2 weeks he takes sometimes to even visit the thread and answer questions! ::facepalm::

Good news! The bugs are coming... The last group are on there way to us now. From there we will package and ship out from there in May. We've created special holders for them as the cards are very thick and some are oversized.

Just don't let your mother, wife, girlfriend or sister open any packages from Upper Deck this month, you may scare them to death. Thanks for your patience, these cards will definitely be worth the wait.

Here is what the email today says, Not sure if they replaced the cards or not. They asked me if, I wanted replacements and I agreed to take them.

We shipped the following redemption(s):
•XXXXXXXXXXX 2009 MLB GOODWIN CHAMPIONS -Entomology Cards Due to government regulations on shipping organic materials, these items can only be shipped within the United States. Customers redeeming these cards outside the USA will need to request a comparable replacement by contacting [email protected] ENTOMOLOGY CARDS **** NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12**

That's old news. Probably just a reminder.

It said, Shipped at 1st then had changed to the other reminder about in process with other projects. They changed again to showing as shipped. I forgot to add that to the thread about them chaning it from shipped to not shipped. Maybe they're giving me a bug now, Not really sure though as to why the status changed 3 times.

Weird, even most recent Beckett has big story on these cards and photos of cards. Still no one has one in hand? Wonder what they will sell for on Ebay once in hand. Some I guess are in oversized cards, the bugs were too big.
