yeah...they probably didn't want to scare people away from the product....doubt this crap will sell much now that it's out.

I also want to reiterate how bothered I am that UD will not respond to any of the questions posted on facebook. gilmo pointed out that some of the jersey swatches are NFL jersey swatches. Where I get concerned is that there are sellers selling "college worn" swatch cards that are obviously not college worn. Now granted I know that a fan should be smart enough to look at a jersey swatch color and put two and two together. I'm potentially missing out on buying some of the Manning stuff because I can't get the company that produced the cards to give me an answer. Obviously a blue swatch is Indy but a white swatch could be UT or Indy.

Unfortunately, thats incorrect. For some reason, people will still bust a product even when it's crappy. Might take a little longer but I was in a shop when a guy came in and bought only two boxes and then walked out. What did he buy? 2006 Paradigm and 2007 Co-Signers. I'm not joking. After he left, the shop owner looked at me and as I shook my head he said, 'that's gonna be one pissed off person when he gets home.'

They will still sell. I'll wait two weeks and pick up the McCoy's for $3-5 each, the Okung's for $5-8 each, and still curse the fact that we drafted another Notre Dame person.

WOW, that guy should've just kicked himself in the nuts instead of wasting his money on those 2 garbage boxes.

Mentioned this in the daily thread yesterday - I saw confirmation on a couple other sites that the backs indicated the jerseys was event-used from the rookie premiere. Pretty lame.....but doesn't seem UD is trying to hide the fact. Not sure that'd be the case for Manning (since it's been a while since he was a rookie), but if you can get a seller to answer what the back states - it may specify.
It looks like a couple guys did have college jersey's - looked like Donald Brown's was a Uconn jersey......but that seems to be the minority.

You would have thought with the companies problems......no-license.....with the cancelations......delays.......UD would have known they had to hit this one out of the park to show their still relevant, so it's a bit disheartening they don't seem to have learned anything. Instead you get no checklist......vague sell-sheet regarding hits (not saying how many auto's) and the majority of hits are single color jersey's.........worse, dumping unused RP jersey's into a college product......and it just seems they still have the "screw you you'll buy anything" mentality.
I'm glad my skepticism of 2010 products kept me from pre-ordering or getting too excited about any of this stuff.

I'm with you there - when I first read about it, I thought it may be fun to bust a case. I'm VERY glad I didn't pre-order.

We of couse it will sell eventually...after sitting on the shelf for a couple of years and shop owners mark it down....I wouldn't pay $60 a box for that crap....thank God Topps is still in the game.

I like it when they sit on the shelf a couple of years, that way, theres little demand for them so I get to buy them for cheap :D

However, they can't sit forever...(2005 Rookie Debut, 2006 Rookie Debut, 2006 Topps Total...BUST THESE PRODUCTS!)

Yeah I almost pre-ordered a couple boxes, but that was months ago......after all the delay's I really didn't even expect it to come out.

I guess my big thing is they could have done something to add value.....not even anything big. Simply have college jersey's, maybe some patches.....or at the very least 3-4 auto's.
As it stands - this is basically the same exact configuration and price as past Sweet Spot releases. 2 rookie card auto's and occasionally you may hit a veteran. Then some $1-3 jersey cards. Yet UD does not have to pay the NFL and NFLPA licenses and seems their dumping event-worn stuff they had lying around. I can't find the thread - but isn't this exactly what the UD rep and apologists said would not happen?

Couldn't find the thread b/c I didn't realize it was bumped up. I realize part of this is regarding future values, but the UD rep. clearly is also talking about a per box content.

pigskincardboard says - Other than brand loyalty, how do you compete with other college products? It's a niche market and upper deck will use up most of the brand capital on the first release. How do you justify charging more while giving the consumer less? I understand that many collectors enjoy little plastic helmets and all, but at some point they'll figure out that these cards will depreciate like Sage and Press Pass unless UD is able to resecure the licensing agreement.

UD's response - actually , we dont do shiny...thats another company ::facepalm:: ...how are we putting less and charging more? same price's as always and if anything there will be more content. I understand people will be comparing us with Press pass and Sage, but we do have a PA license and are exclusive with college now so, I think the values will not depreciate as you say. I guess you will just have to wait and see...time usually tells these things, but value wise we will be there as always.

Maybe I'm alone on this but I'm calling B.S. I admit it's an assumption, but I have to assume this is a far cheaper set to make then past Sweet Spot releases....yet as I said in the past post it's basically the same content/price point. Other such products - their past Draft releases, Press Pass, etc. offer substantially more auto's that offsets the non-license and provides a value at the cost.......not seeing it here.

One way to look at this checlist with "filler" players like Javarris James, who I still 100% full support in the product 8-) , is that sets like NT and Contenders from Panini are often praised for putting the lesser names in, as they don't make it into many other products.

I don't mind having a product that gives lesser players love (most of my collections revolve around those products) however, I'm also of the opinion that you should put lesser guys into one set. UD has done that with SP Authentic year in and year out. So...did they just blow their 'filler' *** on their first offering? All this product does is show that Upper Deck needs to just go away.

I also believe that Topps should discontinue making any product that costs more than $100/box, but that's another topic.

About 5 years ago I made a statement on the beckett boards and it's about time to bring it back:

If you need a retail fix, buy Topps.
If you need a hobby fix, buy Donruss (Panini now).
If you need a solid kick in the junk, buy Upper Deck!

I'd have no problem pulling a James auto either out of a $12 (or whatever these are going for) pack.
I don;t even have a problem with throwing in quite a few "filler" guys......just if you're going to do that and it's not even a licensed product I think they could have thrown in another auto or two per box.

So either UD totally dropped the ball or I was lied to earlier. I asked a Manning jersey card seller if the back of the card said the jersey pieces were worn in an NFL or NCAA game. I was told that the card does not specify. It just says they are game worn. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
