Well as the title states the UFL starts tonight. There's a game on VS. (9 pm est?)

Had I not been watching PTI earlier I'd have no idea tonight was opening night. Not that I think there's a ton of interest in this, but I figured I'd take a look before the Red Sox game began.....so figured others might be curious.

Only 4 teams in the league, so there could be a decent product on the field...the most interesting thing of note I saw in the cable guide info was that Dennis Green and Jim Fossel are coaching the two teams playing tonight.

I actually hope it does well.....or well enough to expand a bit and survive.
It would be nice to have a place like NFL Europe was , where someone can develop or maybe someone who fell through the cracks can prove themselves and get a chance to make the big time.

Not sure about the Las Vegas "LOCOS" though

I was curious as to when this started, thanks for the thread. Also noticed the opener was here in Vegas, they've been announcing it at school but guess not too many fans.
EDIT: i actually have the channel, JP losman quarterbacking for Vegas, they also have Marcel Shipp lol. Dede Dorsey too haha.

Don't forget David Kircus, Martin Bibla, and actually there were quite a few names I recognized.

It may not be a good game then for some people on here to watch then...I can only imagine the money invested and lost in some of these guys cards at one time or another

I turned it on and then turned it back off after seeing the jerseys. Both teams had VERY similar jerseys on, looks like it was just thrown together at the last minute.

I didn't read any of the posts here, but I knew. I'm rooting for the Las Vegas Locomotives. I DVRed the game on Versus tonight...well last night. I just woke up and seem to be feeling better so it's time for some football soon!

I have to be honest - the parts of the game I aw were actually not bad. There were also a couple MONSTER hits....Saw the middle linebacker come up the gap and take on the FB and knock his helmet clear off and one KR got absolutely leveled by a gunner.

I still don't know how long it will last though - as I'm not sure why they choose to debut the league now? Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem wise to me....at the least they could have started in like late July/ early August when people are anticipating football, yet the NFL hasn't really started.
The other thing is there's really no "gimmick" which is both good/bad. It's goof because, as I said, from just a small sample it appeared to be higher quality football than the XFL and closer to the actual game than stuff like the AFL and CFL, but the bad is sometimes you need some sort of "gimmick" to draw in those initial views and then have them see it's a decent product.

Just my opinion though, and I didn't watch the whole game, so maybe I'm wrong and it was garbage - interested to see what anyone else thought.

who were the best players you saw on the field?

From the bit I saw....probably DeeDee (sp?) Dorsey and some linebacker who used to play for the Vikings. I forget the name.

I checked the other rosters, also a few familiar names - Looks like Bollinger and Ingle Martin are the other QB's, Tatum Bell, Lance Legett, and a bunch of other late round skill players from the past few years, and surprised to see Simeon Rice is playing on one of the teams.

I too wonder how long it will last. There is a chance that it could catch on and blow up if the NFL gets itself into a lockout.

That's also the concept of the UFL. It's for the guys to hone their skills when they weren't quite good enough to stick in the NFL. That was one of the main things being discussed when the UFL was formed.

What does the U stand for again? Ingle Martin was cut from the CFL recently, interesting to see he has caught on in this league.
