So I went to the card shop and looked at the "vintage" section that had boxes of late 80's and early 90s's boxes for pretty cheap. I noticed one of the UD "All Time Heores of Baseball" boxes for $15 and recalled their were possible autos of Mantle, Brett, & Seaver and the odds were about 1 in 10 boxes so I said what the heck & bought the box. I got home and opened the box and noticed the packs resemble candy bar wrappers and figured out something was wrong. After a bit, I dug up my huge Beckett book and found out there's a 1993 version I never heard of and there are no chase cards, just cheap base and parallel. So that was $15 down the drain. On the plus side I bought a 1997 Fleer Soaring Stars (glowing version) insert of Griffey for a measly $1.

Ha! Couldn't help but chuckle a bit at your misfortunes. I buy "vintage" (aka junk wax) all the time thinking it was something else.

Or you could have bought a pack of 2009 topps sterling and been out $200.....be glad it was a relatively cheap goof! Plus, i'm sure it was fun to open old packs, it always is!
