Undermarket Ebay Buy-It-Now's

This is going to be a little bit of a rant, so apologies to everyone! I am really disappointed in general with 2012 Contenders Retail. I have gone and bought a lot of blaster boxes. These sp or ssp rookies have been selling for lots of money, then I look on Ebay, and see morons listing BIN'S at HALF or MORE LESS than what completed listings. What the heck?. I know they are only $30 a box, but.....SERIOUSLY?. For example....Chris Rainey...1st sells for $100, then I see right after some idiot:x, puts a bin of HALF that. Then now, all of a sudden I see $35, $40 BIN'S. I just don't get it guys. I understand everyone can sell for what they want, but when you have these MORONS selling them for that, then all of us, when we try and sell them, suffer, cause now the "supposive market" is down, which to me is complete, and utter BS. I am just I guess getting tired, of seeing this nonsense. How are we supposed to make anything, when you have stupid idiots putting ridiculous BIN'S.

Do people suffer memory loss from one year to the next when it comes to Contenders?

EVERY year, some cards from Contenders sell for waaaaaay more than they are worth because they are thought to be SPs. Every year.

The last couple years some players were loaded into retail and not hobby, thus making them seem to be SP, when they were not.

Bottom line is, the Rainey will be a $20 card within a week. The $100 sale was probably a fluke before the SP list was released and now it is common knowledge there are 288 of them. Those MORONS probably saved you the headache of a chargeback.

That's NOT the point, they single-handedly lowered the market. Regardless of what they sell for in 2 weeks, the BOTTOM LINE is......They SHORTED themselves money, and everyone else's . sales after that. It doesn't matter what card it is, if you are putting BIN'S at under market prices, then it screws it up for everyone else. If people started putting BIN'S of HALF of what RG3 usually sells for, does that mean that HALF the current price is the TRUE market?. It's the same principle. They drop the market IN HALF. That's my WHOLE point, it doesn't matter what it SHOULD sell for, or sells for in a week, the BOTTOM LINE is......These guys are dropping the market prices. Why can't everybody list Rainey for a BIN, or Best Offer of $75?????........I will tell YOU why. They want to SELL it NOW, and get out from underneath of it. EVERYBODY could have held the market up HIGHER by listing it at roughly the SAME PRICE.....Before by the Super Bowl, a Kaepernick Contenders were selling for over $200, which was NOTHING but hype, just like the Contenders SP'S, so.....should I mean, what would you have said if people were putting BIN'S of HALF PRICE?....It's the same principle. Was that card worth $200?...NO....but people were PAYING IT......It's the SAME THING on this year's SP'S...People were paying higher money for it...By your logic, if I wanted 1 of your cards, that sells for $50, because the guy is HOT right now, would you SELL it for HALF of what it' going for???....I am NOT trying to be rude, or disrespectful, just because we know it's not worth what it's selling for, it doesn't change the FACT that people are lowering the market by listing it for CHEAP BIN'S.....Anybody else have a opinion?...

Would you rather have money now or list the high BIN no one will hit when the market saturates and have to take $20 or less in a couple of months? Easy answer. Kapaernick has staying power, Chris Rainey is pure inflation based on scarcity. Scarcity is about to go away so sell fast and take what you can get.

I know kaepernick has staying power, but REGARDLESS they are selling for HALF of what they were before the Super Bowl. Because before was HYPE, just like the HYPE for the SP'S. I used Rainey as a example, cause some of the other SP'S I have, guys are listing at waaaaaaaaay less than completed listings. I know it's hype right now on these, and I know in a couple of weeks, that prices will go waaay down, BUT people could list them at ROUGHLY the same value (give or take a few bucks), and IF someone wants it that bad, they will have to pay that price. My POINT is, in a couple of days, with 1 sold people have lowered the market 66%. I know the first couple will go higher, but given the popular answer in a couple of weeks, they will be cheaper, if you pulled the first Andrew Luck auto out of Supreme, would you sell it for $150, since that is what it would go for in a few weeks????NO, you are going to sell I for the $250+ that the first couple will bring.....My example of Luck, and the others are to point out lowering the market well over HALF of what it was. Again, it DOESN'T matter what it will sell for in a couple of weeks, it's what the market CURRENTLY I, even IF it's inflated.

It is their cards to do what they want.

I will be honest, I had an item (non-Ebay) there was a recent flood all selling around $125, but more and more were being listed. I listed mine 1t $114 and it was gone within minutes. The next auction one went for $85

It's real simple... the first Rainey sold for $100, sure. That was probably before the SP list was released and the buyer was banking on it being a SSP. Retail hit and more people got Raineys, then the SP list was released and they realized there were 288 of them. Sellers with half a brain saw that $100 price tag was nowhere near close, so they dropped their BIN prices. It may be half of the original sale but it's still twice what they will be selling for in a week or two. Smart sellers saw that.

It is all about finding out who an SP is EARLY in Contenders. A Kaepernick from 2011 has nothing to do with it. Contenders is a top RC. If a player gets hot, his Rookie Ticket is one of the first to rise. A hot player from a previous year has nothing to do with a speculated SP when Contenders is first released.

People trying to guess and overhype Contenders SSP's are the real issue in my mind. People paying 100 are just trying to guess its a SSP and then sell it higher later, good they got stuck over paying. If people would just wait until the lists come out there would be none of these teeth gnashing type threads.

Bottom line you are pissed that you couldn't overhype and sell your SP as a SSP for top price, sucks, but that is what happens when you try and sell something that volatile market wise. I think these SSP's are stupid and cause too many collectors headaches.

They did not lower the market. The first guy got a fluke sale way above market value. These guys are likely still a little above true market value on their BINs and might get lucky since the product is still new.

What you're essentially mad about is that people are asking for a realistic (well, still higher than these will settle down to) amount, and didn't leave the window open for you to list a ridiculously high buy it now...that nobody in their right mind would never hit.

The first one or even the first few always sell higher than they should. Then they often result in chargebacks. Listing more at high buy it nows, especially after the SP list has come out, is a waste of a listing fee in the chance to still sell it a little above where the market will settle into.

In forget the Buy It Now is going lower to try and still get a sale, the first one or two on auction would have destroyed your jaderock sized BIN.

Dude, it's okay to sell cheaper. Besides, these guys may have made a fortune on these cards based on their buy ins. Nothing wrong with taking less profit and the card selling almost immediately. And some sellers don't believe in gouging because others are doing it.
