Unopened Modern

I know this may not be a surprise to most, but I just wanted to share my most recent experience. It is a reminder to me that I need to just say no!

i don’t buy a lot of unopened stuff and have even less stashed away, but happened upon a box of 97 Donruss Teams that I forgot I bought. I decided to open it yesterday because I do know from experience that UV cards don’t fair well over time. This was no different!

it started ok with a little stickiness but just got worse as I dig down into the box. Most of the packs had a good card on top and then the rest were stuck to each other. These were 5 card packs.

The red parallels faired OK but then it came to the box hit.

what a waste!

Dang, you opened a week too late! Those rip errors would have sold for big bucks a few days ago.

Yikes. I'm worried about some of my hand-collated sets bricking. I recently opened up my 2011 Update set to put the Trout in a one-touch. Luckily it was still fine.

I would go through my collection once in a while just to sort to prevent sticking. I know some would put penny sleeves on every card to prevent it. Meanwhile going through box of 93-94 Leaf hockey at this moment. I got few packs in the freezer as well smacking it with palm of my hand.

I had heard the freezer thing and had purchased a signed photo that appeared to be stuck to the glass pane. It arrived and was stuck. I tried the freezer thing and it didn't work. Maybe card to card works better than card to glass!
