Upper Deck Replacement For Entomology Card

Was their a certain type of bug card you were due? Or was it random. I guess seeing the Wieters compared to what bug cards look like. Gotta agree with Schmidtfan, you got screwed. Should have held out.

UD told me they needed to replace the card, I didnt ask for the replacement. I even called and asked to not get one, They told me that they couldnt reverse it. I asked for a baseball casehit in return at that point, This is what they consider a casehit. I am positive a case hit in sweet spot was a jumbo patch haha. I am honestly thinking about calling them on it, Not to happy with the card really. If I can trade it though, I will be pretty happy/

I wonder why they needed to replace it? Did your redemption specify what bug you were supposed to get.

To my meager knowledge...none of them do. I even asked a UD rep which bug my redemption was for and they said it was just random and they did not know or have anything pre-determined. Kinda weird. So why they tell some people they can't redeem it but others can, when they can and are basically choosing your bug...well it makes no sense.

bottom line is UD sold this product mostly on the shoulders of these bug cards, then down the road they find
out that making them would cost too much money and so they bail. If I was holding one of these redemptions
I would be ready to storm the offices, but alas I know better.

Some of the Vegas cards must have gotten out into the public. I saw the Giant Leaf Bug card at a show in Huntsville, AL about a month ago. Guy wanted $350 for it. The thing was so big/thick that it stood up on it's side with no help. He also had a card that had a piece of the Golden Gate Bridge from Goodwin as well. Same thing..uber thick.

As someone with several pending Entomology redemptions, I'd like to hear more about this situation. Did UD contact you out of the blue, stating that you'd be required to take a replacement? Had you been in contact with them on this card previously?

Any other details on the backstory would be appreciated.

They sent me an email in early Feb about the replacement, I asked about other redemptions and when they would be fulfilled. I thought at 1st it was just an error because of my other cards. I agreed with getting a replacement as I got the idea, They were not gonna be able to produce the entomology cards or secure enough bugs to equal the redemptions printed. Emailed them in mid march stating, I wanted the card and would wait and not send a replacement. Did not recieve a response but a automatic one with no answer. I called and was told they could not reverse the replacement request, No real reason why they couldnt do it honestly though. I asked for a case hit and really would only be happy with a high end card as some of these bugs sell for 150-400 on the checklist. They promised a high end baseball card and it would be a case hit from 09. It took from late March to the other day when the Wieters came in to even give me the replacement. I been thinking about it and I know this will seem greedy to some, But the Wieters is not really a comprable replacement for the entomology card. Called them today and told them to send me a card that is a case hit from either baseball, football, basketball or hockey and the player be a super star. Or they could just send me a entomology card when avail, I would send the Wieters back in the time being so someone else could get it. The person has to call me monday and let me know what his boss said about my request. Straight up told them that the card has to be over 250 ebay value for me to even consider being happy. But I am thinking about filing a complaint with the BBB again, Showing them all the issues with these cards and forcing them to take actions. UD is on the way out though, Something gives me that feeling and just wanna put a nail in their coffin.

I hate to tell you, but you are screwed. Upper Deck has no motivation to send you something else. They have
THOUSANDS of complaints on the BBB so one more isn't going to matter. You can tell them you aren't going to
buy their products anymore, but guess what, they don't have anymore left. They were more than glad to put
you on the replacment list, afterall the cost on a Weiters autos is probably less than 3 dollars. The cost on
that bug card much more. I hate to hear people tell me that they asked UD for X amount of value, or X players,
they can get around these numbers so easy, we all know a ton of "case hits" that aren't worth squat, we all
could name 10 cards that book 200 dollars that you couldn't get 20 bucks for, and we all know 10 more cards that
book for 20, but sell 4 times over that.

I wish you the best my friend, it won't be pretty but hopefully you will get something comparable that you will be
happy with, right now, in accepting that card, you would be letting them off the hook bigtime!

Yeah...sad thing is I can't see them complying. I kinda had some guys lined up I wanted. Maybe a Lebron auto or something like that. I knew I'd probably never get it. But I had the same exact mindset. A case hit is supposed to be bad ass. Not a random current auto. Oh...and that Weiters auto doesn't seem like a case hit. Maybe it is maybe it isn't. If it is...god have mercy on anyone buying sweetspot by the case.

Luckily I never relented and maybe they will actually get me the redeemed bug card.

I love that your demanding 250 Ebay value. For one they dont operate in the ebay value world an it is based on there on idea of how much things are worth. They are the judge jury an executioner on what the trade will be on redemptions. it seems like if ur nice to them they help but if not they just give up the big ol' F U to the customers.

I filled a BBB complaint a few years ago and they sided with me in the end. I recieved what was owed to me and a few extras for the errors made by them. I did a lot of research then and will now over it, Its not really hard to do and will be worth it. I actually last time got copies of contracts they had with the NBA and thats how I won in the end. Once they claimed secondary value on a card, They broke a stipulation of that contract. They can only base replacements on what it cost to produce a card. I will get the entomology checklist and see what each bug cost and figure out what it would cost to make the card. And avg out what each card could be worth. I will probably win in the end like before honestly as I will go in with all my states consumer laws also. They wont wanna deal with all the ******** that I will put them through. Cause it will be worth it to put a nice card in a mailer and send it to me. Some employee taking time to deal with letters and phone calls will be to costly to them. I have a strong will and will drag it out for a while, Like I said though. They will send me a nice card to shut me up.

seems like you sir have to much time on ur hands.... But i wish you well keep us up to date on how this ends up for you. But i believe that because there have never reportedly been secondary market sales on record of these that placing a value on what they could be worth is a very subjective account. On your last win there was probably some way to base how much these cards could be worth such as a player auto from another set or other cards of similar value to base it off of but instead there is no cards or other relics to base the value of this card off of.

I would tell them you paid 250 for that redemption card and you don't want to lose any money on the deal. Tell them wieters doesn't sell for a quarter of that and you would like some real high end players like jeter or pujols to make up for their error
