They did it to themselves it seems. Having Topps around is a good thing though.

AHHA! Knew something was up when it was posted that they weren't coming out with NFL Draft.

Honestly though that kind of blows. I like Donruss/Panini, but UD had some great football products too....and having some competition is good. If this does happen, I wonder if Topps will be able to reaquire their license.

wasnt this announced like a month ago? at least that is what i heard, and thats why they were doing the draft and ncaa sweet spot since no nfl license is required. draft was scrubbed due to losing tebow to press pass or sage

If true that really sucks. IMO UD makes the nicest looking cards. Their Hockey License also expires this Sept/Oct and there are rumors the NHL is not gonna renew that license as well. That would mean that they have no licenses left

I sure hope that this isn't true. UD comes out with some of the best stuff every year for Football. It also probably means a grisly (mostly) ending to my PC. Portis hasn't signed a card for any company but UD since 2005, and though I don't know why this is I wouldn't expect him to sign for anybody else if this rumor pans out. One thing is for sure though: if this rumor turns out to be true, I will collect quite a bit less.

I really hope they are able to get their act together and not lose their license... I suppose it'll help me save money, in a sense, but it still stinks. Guess I can focus on older missing pieces for the PC if this happens.

Good God! I hope not!
If that is the case, I may be done with collecting. IMO, UD makes the best products.

I really don't see this happening. Losing baseball was bad enough, but if they lose football too, they're not gonna be able to ride on basketball and hockey especially since their exclusive to hockey is up this year.

UD will work this out.

They lost Basketball already.
Only Panini can currently make NBA cards.

That one really had to hurt, with all the exclusives and high-end sets they were clearly #1 in the sport.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I don't really follow the hoops part of the hobby.

They gain the NCAA but lose the NFL (uncofirmed, I know).

Ouch.

This really pisses me off though because I love some of the UD products.

Glad they replied but doesn't seem too informative and maybe used to try to clear some smoke. Losing UD would be a huge blow to the card community. I am a huge fan of Panini products but I like Upper Deck equally as much and they need the competition with each other.

Excuse me while I go hang myself. This is horrible. UD and I do not see eye to eye all the time but man most of my favorite cards are UD. Will be a sad day in the hobby of it happens.

The "sad day in the hobby" was when upper deck decided to counterfeit cards. Another "sad day in the hobby" was when they didn't care about their contract with MLB...they thought they were too big to bring down. I hope a future sad day isn't coming when people find out they have produced other fake cards.

Upper deck has done all of this to themselves. Honestly, I can't believe anyone would feel sorry for them because I'm certain upper deck has laughed all the way to the bank while taking everyone's money. They have known for years that what they were doing was wrong. This is well documented in court papers. We all reap what we sow, and in upper deck's case, their time has come.

I am talking about quality of product not the legal crap at all. I do not care about that or feel bad for them. I am looking from a collector standpoint.
AT least values should go up. Just for example, try buying a Lebron since they lost their bkb license. They sell for full book or more
